I just watched it, and about 20 seconds after she first appears to confront Kang and Kitana towards the end of the movie, some dude flashes across the screen on a rope, throws a knife and cuts a rope holding up a cage which then falls on and kills Shiva.

The incident is never spoken of again in the movie.

WTF?

Can someone explain.

That was Liu Kang swinging with Kitana I believe or by himself, but I'm pretty sire it was Liu

My advice would be to buy a new TV, maybe one with colours and decend resolution. You can buy these things almost everywhere, you can have one for almost 100 dollars.
