Wrong section but I will contribute nonetheless
With the current lawsuit between thresh hold and Warner Bros about this film, I would immagine that it is unavoidable now and we will see a MK3 movie regardless.
There is always the possebility that threshhold just wants the money. But theyd be attacked if they win and dont do anyhting with it. BUt if WB bought all of midway. I beleive that would include the existing contract in debt to threshhold. thus having to buy them out.
WB could just buy them out, then itl be a WB movie. Or if WB wins, itl be their movie anyways if they argue that nothing was being done. I would say the most likely scenario would be WB to buy them out.
My money is on us seeing a movie, seems like its getting closer and more likely. regardless of the outcome to be.

There might be another MK movie but we'll just have to wait and see if they actually make it. I don't think it will be called Devastation though. This is probably the most up-to-date info regarding the next MK movie, I found it posted on another MK website forum:

Scroll down to the name Ben Albovias and it says at the end of the paragraph " In addition to theatre work, Ben was recently cast in a major role in the remake of Mortal Kombat."
This was posted on March 29, 2010, just a few days ago. So if they're casting, there's a good chance we'll see another movie.

What about Mortal Kombat Rebirth, that could happen.
MK:Devastation was slated to begin filming in 2005. They had the filming permits, the licenses to rent out the studio, etc. The studio was park of a theme park in Louisiana. People in the theme park could walk through portions of the studios and see the movies being filmed.
Hurricane Katrina unfortunately hit about 2 weeks before filming began, and the studio was destroyed, along with all of the sets that had been built for the movie. The permits and licenses ran out while much of the city was still underwater, and Threshold never bothered renewing any of them to resume production on the movie. I don't know if they even bothered rebuilding the theme park or the studio.
IGN I believe posted an article about this back in 2005 a few months after it happened.
