Mortal Kombat:Conquest starred big named Stars like Kristanna Locken,Jamie Pressly,Jeffery Meeks and Sung Hi Lee. It aired on the WB, TNT(TNT showed to show a thousand times a day) and UPN. It brought in alot of ratings and was one of the most watched shows of the 98-99 season. But ofcourse channels started fighting over the show which caused the WB to pull the plug. Jump three years later (2001) and The SCIFI Channel begs Larence Kassonoff (Producer) if they can buy the rights of the show, and you know what he said"s? "I don't consider Mortal Kombat to be scifi" What an idiot!!!!! I hate threshould!!!furious

To be quite honest, I think Threshold has mishandled the Mortal Kombat franchise immensely... And in my personal opinion, they place "cool" martial arts above story quality and drama.

Did you even watch all 22 episodes of MKC? If you did you would know that they put alot of effort in story.smile

Oh, i was just talking about Threshold's overall image of Mortal Kombat - they seem to think of it as a martial arts marathon sometimes!

Even in the instances (however frequent or infrequent) where story is the priority, I find that they handle it a tad poorly... In short, I just don't think they're up to the challenge!

I tend to agree.

There seems to be a B-movie mentality about all the MK stuff.
Even the Conquest series seemed to be pretty satisfied with slipping into cliched, and uninteresting storylines filled in by busty babes, and martial artists of varying qualities.

Seems like it's aiming to slip into the Xena/Hercules series niche, without the camp appeal.

It's a shame.
I'd really like to see a direct conversion of the gaming storyline, taking itself as seriously as possible. (With suitable amounts of that trademark MK dark humor).

Exactly - the entire approach is off, and it's severly limiting the presentation.

If Hercules is "SciFi" then Mortal Kombat surely is as well.
