July 18, 2004
A slew of updates.
12:05 PM MST - Shinnokxz

Hey guys, sorry for the drought of updates through the month, but nothing has really has been unearthed... until now!

-The budget will be MUCH bigger than $15 million.

-The film will NOT be straight to video-- it will come to theaters!

-Shooting dates have been discussed before, but all are now void. The only news I can report is that pre-production will most likely start in October.

-Negotiations are continuing with Paul W.S. Anderson. He wants a LOT of money to do this project, and Threshold, I THINK, is willing to dish out that amount. If Paul is back, I'll officially be excited

-Universal will most likely be the publishing company for MK3.

I hope this will appease you guys for a while! I'll let you know of any updates as soon as I get them.

NOTE: The site "Total Mortal Kombat" has updated with an alleged 'screenshot' of MK3. THIS IS FALSE! The article, which is found here, does not mention any new rumors or false claims about the film, but it DOES show a picture of Robin Shou's film, Red Trousers. The article clearly presents the photo as a shot from Red Trousers. Total Mortal Kombat simply does not know how to read and listed it in their update as a shot from MK3. I repeat: It is NOT a screenshot from MK3! MK3 has not even started shooting yet!

Great news for the most part, except for two things:
#1 - Shooting postponed again...
#2 - Anderson asking for ''alot of money''. I'm a big PA fan, but damn Paul, The Threshold isn't made of fucking money. Incase you didn't notice, MKA sucked big time. He should be directing MK3 for free smile

Agreed. As much as I like Paul Anderson you'll have to admit that a lot of his movies are pretty mediocre. And a mediocre director should expect mediocre pay.

And it's not like he's much loved amongst the AVP or RE comunity. While here in the MK comunity, we'd love to have him back and hardly ever say anything bad about him.

Anderson's movies could be better, but his films always have that "feel" to it. I'd much rather keep that feel.

I'm still bouncing in my seat for RE2 and the RE1 collectors DVD.

I remember reading awhile back that Paul Anderson did not want to do another Mortal Kombat movie. So maybe he wants alot cause maybe he feels after doing a big project that he kinda deserves more money then other directors.More money doesnt mean it will be better but i dunno. But then again it isnt confirm that he is directing it yet and maybe he wants to see how well RE2 does and same with AVP.Either way its good news I supposed. But lets say universal does pick it up,then maybe they can get ppl that did the special effects on JP and if anyone knows this,if Paul Anderson does direct it,theres going to be alot of foriegn(sorry if i spelled that wrong)people in it.That and so far every movie hes directed after RE well including RE he has used companies in other countries.Personally I think they should get a different director so they can spend more money on the movie and not the person who directs it.

um, i don't think he would do it for free since it's costs like $15 mill. and if he doesn't make that much money with the movie he loses most of it. he still shouldn't ask for more money. especially since he messed up with mk2

That's just silly. There weren't many 'foreign people' in MK, and Resident Evil only had the whole british and german crew because Screen Gems and Constantin Films are european companies and they were the ones producing RE... The Threshold is as American as it gets. To quote Larry 'The Frog' Kasanoff, ''We're all about Guns n' Buns!''.

Umm i never said mk had foriegn ppl in it just after and including resident evil were there foriegn ppl in his movie.Cause look at AVP way to many for an american fan base.

Why were there foreign people in Resident Evil... european companies.

Too many foreign people in AVP? Hmm, maybe it's getting a bit realistic. The world's greatest explorers, scientists etc, aren't all (if any) american.
