liu kang.he's the hero,he's the champion,and he's the best human fighter IMO.plus,i was highly dissapointed at how he was taken out of the series so my vote goes to ressurecting liu.
Liu Kang must die in the next movie, to let some other one take his place and have as fans please that we wont see Liu winning again. Sub-Zero isnt a good idea. Sub is cool and all, and important in the games, but he wouldnt fit for the main hero in the film. He could have an important role, but just like that.
As much as I like Kung lao, and the fact I agree it would be cool for him to be the hero, I get the feeling he will be another Liu Kang type. I mean, he has almost the same name, same story from where he comes, etc. I hope if HE gets to be the hero, they make him be a VERY different character from Liu Kang, so they dont identify him as a Liu clone.
Another character that its story could improve to do a better role in the film is Kenshi. He fits for a hero image. Very cool character with an awesome story.

Kung Lao, to pick out of these 2. As cool as Subby, and other our favorite ninjas are, MK just never got ninjas to be... ninjas. So putting one in charge would make it very risky.
if Subby is in the lead, but not as so much of a ninja, it might be more tolerable.
personally, I find that in the movies, Liu should follow to be the champ. He can have a new story. He only had his rerun in MKA, because it was MKA. But in MK3, he can have some new story. What if he became the ageless, yet mortal protector of Earth realm?
If we had KL in the lead, then there's more of a chance that he will go through the whole 'find yourself' journey, just like Liu. Liu already did it, and can now do what he wants, as a free guy, yet the champion.
