Watching MK Annihilation for the first time in a while and in it Shinnok is the father of Shao Kahn and Rai/yden. Is this mentioned in the MK games canon because I personally dont remember it being mentioned.

Although characters like Raiden, Fujin, Shao Kahn and Argus might share a godly origin, in the canon story of the game the gods are not "blood" relatives.
Only in the non canon videogame Mk vs DC this link is mentioned in Raiden and Shao Kahn's BIOS.

This is correct. Also, props on answering them politely. I think 99% of this forum would've been unreasonably rude.

I've really never understood why they acknowledged the brother thing in MK vs DC... and it makes me leery...
I mean it's not like a third party developer made that game. It was still the MK team... so why add that? Sure the game may not be canon... but the character histories up to that point... you'd think, should be true to the canon we knew.
So WHY is that in there? Is it possible they really do intend for them to be brothers, but they downplay it because they know it makes us rage as fanboys?
Did they just want to test the water in a non-canon environment to see if we went , "Yay!" like we did when we finally found out Noob was Sub-Zero? And then it backfired?
I don't GET it... why'd they do that!?
It's like if a Marvel vs Capcom game added a note that said Ken and Ryu were brothers. Yeah, like... sure the game isn't canon, but it makes you go, "Wait WHAT!? Are they!? Where is this coming from!?"

The answer is pretty easy: despite its poor quality, MK: Annihilation is a "popular" movie. MK vs DC was supposed to be aimed to the DC-only fans too, so it was easier for them "advertising" Shao Kahn and Raiden as brethern.
