Chris Casamassa Confirms MK: Devastation's filming.
4:27 PM MST - Shinnokxz

It's good to update the site today on a lighter note, and I apologize to everyone who got their hopes up over the FAKE MK: Devastation site. I'm surprised to see that you were all as mad as I was.

Anywho, I got word from Johan Aders, a friend and dear supporter of the MK3 movie for ages, that Chris Casamassa has e-mailed him and said that filming of MK3 will start very soon. Chris's E-mail address was confirmed to be correct through his Dojo website, http://www.reddragonkarate.com.

Chris Casamassa played as Scorpion in the first Mortal Kombat movie and as Scorpion in MK: Conquest.

Speaking of Mortal Kombat: Conquest (a short-lived live-action TV series about MK), I've been getting a lot of E-mails concerning it. I'd like to point out that Threshold Entertainment, the company responsible for the MK movies and MK: Conquest, has started work on a new TV channel called BlackBelt TV. The channel is supposed to go live this fall some time, and when it does, I can almost guarantee that Mortal Kombat: Conquest will be a regular part of their programming.

In the mean time, you can sign a petition that would bring the only season of Mortal Kombat: Conquest to DVD. Thanks to various viewers for sending me the link.

I think Universal could definitely without a doubt give MK3 the best production budget possible, just look at Van Helsing and The Hulk with about 150 mil a piece.

Too bad its not going to happen though. sad

Clearly you completely missed my point, my point was not that Van Helsing and The Hulk were good films it was that Universal can supply MK3 with the sufficient budget. I used those films as an example of this because each had a budget of 150 mil or more.

Umm he also said perhaps, thus its not certain, and most likely isn't hitting the theaters. Straight to video, maybe, but I don't care to keep up with those projects.

my point was that mk3 dosen't need a big budget. MKA sucked and it had a huge budget while MK had a kind of low budget, and it was awsome.

It would be dissappointing if the movie does not hit theaters especially because the success of the series is coming back. I think within a year Mortal Kombat will go mainstream once again like it did when it first debuted. Just look... when MK first debuted within a few years a movie came out, comic books, a novel, and toys. Now look at it, the games made a comeback, comic books and toys are gonna come back, and now possibly a movie. Hopefully MK3 will hit it strong and be what it needs to be.

I agree that is should hit theatres....but lets hope it hits when there is little competition....cuz if there is heavy competition then it might not do well and then the company could look at that as a loss....but since November done came and gone we can expect filmin to begin in the spring or something.....Lets hope it gets done right....

It may have been considered a big budget back then but now 30 million is considered to be an independent film. In order to sufficiently illustrate the world of MK into film you would need to make the film a big budget movie. At least 65 million which is the average budget for a big budget film these days.

Thats kinda sad, a MK movie can be done easily under 20 mill. Maybe even 15. All my movies I've done for class assignments look like I've dropped a lot of money & time on them. When I reveal they were done under a few hours, I get the slack jaw. Concentrating on the realism of MK is the trick to getting the film done well and cheap. For example, if the film were to be based on MKD, you'd want to avoid storylines that involves multiple realms. Keep the story down to Earth and Outworld. Then write the story in a way so it doesn't contradict anyother video game storylines. Not that hard.

I hate to break to you all, but you can't afford to pay actors, create CGI, pay everyone else in the crew, create good costumes, distribute, create puppetry, do other specail effects, and advertise an MK film with only 15-30 million. These are different times now and the services needed for a film like this are more costly than they were before.
