I don't know how many episodes were were, but there where quite a few. The animation of DOTR was pretty bad for a animated show, but not horrible. It was a good show in terms of expanding the MK3 storyline back in 1995. Also it was a bit corney, but I still loved it , so I would give it a 6 or 7 out of 10. I should note I recorded a handfull of DOTR episodes, they are pretty good in retrospect. Also the last episode ever of DOTR had far better animation and plot(best everything)of any episode( the last one had to do with Kahn removial from power).

Actually there are 13 episodes... unlucky number...
I've got them all, there are actually 2 or 3 really good ones.

Ah I see. So the whole plot was MK3 based. The only thing I remember about it (it was so long ago) is that the voices seemed wrong.

Well, not exactly, MKDOTR doesn't take place within the same world as the games. It fits the movies better, they even recreate certain fight scenes (Liu Kang vs. Sub-Zero, Liu Kang vs. Shang Tsung, Sonya vs. Kano) from the first movie.

It takes place early in the 21st century, according the MK: Defenders of the Realm box art (VHS, U.S. release).

i enjoyed the episodes that had my favourite characters in it even though it drifted from the MK games story (Scorpion fighting Sub-Zero), but they did the Lin kuei episode with Smoke well.

The rest were a bit rubbish but the Raiden character was fun 2 watch, his sarcastic jokes @ the most serious times were often the best parts of the series ("Excuse me guys but er the sky is falling")

I have the 1st episode and its not terrible. I'd give it like 5/10 because it was ok at times. It did however, have Sektor leading an army of cyborgs (kinda like his new Tekunin clan??- the cartoon is set in the future) Overall I think its watchable and can see some relevance for a MK fan. But before you watch you should know that Luke Perry did the voice of Sub Zero and that Raiden says: "Alright, now kick those jets and JAM!"

I really loved that show. I used to wake up early saturday morning and watch a new episode of it. I wish they would have lasted longer. I would rate it a 9/10. Even though the animation wasnt great it was a good show.

I found that cartoon great, 10/10, OK, so it was aimed at kids as expected, but it was still good. Shame there was only 13 episodes, I have the 3 DVD's that were released & they only cost £1 each & they are orginal released copies, unfortunately though, although they are genuine, they are on in completely the wrong order & over the 3 DVD's they are only 4 episodes on each, meaning one episode is missing which is the episode titled "Sting of the Scorpion" which I liked becuase obviously, it had Scorpion in it, the only epsiode he appeared in i think too. Shame the cartoon couldn't be brought back in this day & age, would be cool or at least a new MK cartoon created at least.

You can get the Scorpion episode from the Australian DVD's, it sucks that they're out of order.
