This type of discussion (downloading copyrighted material) is forbidden; however, if you wish I can point you to a place where you may purchase the episode on DVD.
You must have a region-free DVD player, though, that can handle a PAL signal.

The serpent and the ice is one of MKC's best episodes. It had Sub battling it out with Scorpion, how can you not like that? The story was excellent and had some of the most impressive fights in the series.
Zentile Wrote: ScorpionsBrother Wrote: i think that is what MK3 needs, ass kicking like that! That was MKA. Lots of action and ass kicking...bad story, stupid plotholes, bad acting and bad special effects. The serpent and the ice was fucking terrible. |
Both Sub-Zero versus Scorpion fights were crappy. The music that played during those fights was Scorpion's theme, one of the most boring MK fight themes ever. The special effects were terrible, especially Scorpion's 'frozen' serpent. The story was not good, it was filled with numerous DUMB plotholes, and the whole thing was just made to make Scorp and Subby fight. Just like MKA. Annihilation was a stupid excuse to have a bunch of MK characters fighting each other.
Not to mention Serpent and the Ice felt like a lame B-movie. Perron stabbed Lisa with a HUGE knife...when Subby picks her up, there's no blood, no scar, no wound, no NOTHING.
And hum...Sub-Zero turned Perron into ice and then her whole body shattered. But, wait a second...Scorpion found Perron's knife- frozen? With not a bit of blood from Lisa? And I do wonder how the knife didn't shatter.
Chris Cassamassa and JJ Perry are no actors. They're crap at acting, and they have no control over their voices. Chris Cassamassa just didn't know exactly how EEEEEVIL Scorpion should sound, so he gave him ten diferent types of voice tones instead.
That episode was a JOKE.

I think you were expecting too much. MKC was a show, remember, not a movie? you cant' really expect great fx and A-list actors, it's just not plausible.
Also, notice that most people disagree with your opinion. Perhaps you're being too negative YET AGAIN (suprise, suprise!!!).
Still, I respect your opinion, it's just that what you stated isn't really valid (not b/c it was a negative review) - it's just that you expected too much from a low budget tv show.

I disagree; It has solid acting, a decent plot, humor, and a fight b/w two of the most popular MK characters, which puts MKA to shame. It's one of my faves. Sure, it's not the best episode, but I wouldn't call it the worst.
Decent Plot? What decent plot? Scorpion and Sub-Zero unite forces under Shao Kahn's orders to kill Kung Lao? Why should Sub-Zero and Scorpion even unite, anyway? I'm pretty sure the Lin Kuei ALONE could take out Lao, Siro and Taja by themselves. I even dare say they don't even need Sub-Zero to defeat the trio. The whole story development is RETARDED to say the least. Scorpion decides to 'deal' with Sub-Zero by attacking his family. That was pointless, not only because killing Sub-Zero's family wouldn't actually do ANYTHING at all besides anger him, and also because Scorpion only sent TWO fighters to kill the family- both defeated by Kung Lao. You'd think Scorpion could go over there and kill them himself, since he 'hates' Sub-Zero so much, for no aparant reason.
Why didn't the Lin Kuei and Scorpion's clan simply attack as soon as the alliance was formed? To give Rayden some time to warn the target? To give the target time to prepare? It was just so stupid, it's like the bad guys were TRYING to lose.
And at the very end, somehow, Sub-Zero and Scorpion find themselves alone. Well, Sub-Zero locked Siro and Taja, and knocked Kung Lao out cold. Great. That's taken care of.
But what ever happened to ''every single man'' from the Lin Kuei that the grandmaster promised Shao Kahn he'd send along with Scorpion? Maybe those two ninjas that showed up at the very end of the fight were the Lin Kuei's army? TWO ninjas? Surely not, as Rayden latter says there are lots more Lin Kuei where they came from. Funny that they weren't sent along to help Scorpion. Funny that Scorpion's WHOLE clan wasn't there aswell.
So in conclusion, the alliance was POINTLESS. The only good bit in the episode was Kung Lao vs Ninjas, and also the ending with Smoke- too bad we never hear from Subby or Smoke EVER AGAIN.

I agree somewhat, but...
Zentile Wrote:

It stresses the face that Kahn has tons of power; If Kahn wants them to unite, then Sub and Sco know better than to defy him.
I'm pretty sure the Lin Kuei ALONE could take out Lao, Siro and Taja by themselves. I even dare say they don't even need Sub-Zero to defeat the trio.
True, but what would be the point then? If the clan actually attacked and killed them, that would be stupid.

If he did that, he would be defying Kahn's orders; He couldn't risk that which is why he sent his warriors.

Because the shows one hour. Things like that never happen in TV shows, it's like an 'unwritten rule'. Technically though, u do have a point.
To give Rayden some time to warn the target? To give the target time to prepare? It was just so stupid, it's like the bad guys were TRYING to lose.
True, but isn't that the case with most MKC episodes? Or rather, ALL tv shows in particular?

Again, although you have a good point, you simply can't do that in TV shows.

I'm sure they would make future appearances if the series continued.
CONCLUSION: Although you have some good points, because of the way televesion shows are, you can't do things like send a whole clan after 3 people, and stuff like that.

Yes, it would be stupid if the whole lin kuei would just go there and kill them. That would make the episode dumb. But it's dumber that they weren't sent even though it was their objective.
But that's just my point. Why should the writers put themselves in a situation they can't get around without screwing the plot up? The story should've just been diferent. In fact, they could've just added simple little things to solve the stupidities, like, Rayden protecting the trio from the lin kuei and Scorpion, and that's why the whole army isn't sent, or Rayden would notice.
The writers could've worked around the stupid bits easily... they didn't even have to make the Lin Kuei grandmaster say he'll send every single man, if he ended up not sending them.

I just liked Scorpion and Sub-zero fighting, ofcourse the acting is bad, and Scorpion needs to keep his mouth shut, he's a ninja, he should say more than "get over here!".
I thought the music was ok, nothing special. If we started talking about plotholes we would never get finished. Perron was a bad idea, Sub's family was a bad idea.
I just loved the fights, they looked a bit familiar.

Try blackstar UK. Remember that's it's VERY expensive (the money it says to pay is in POUNDS, meaning 6.95 will be something like 17.99 in US dollars). I know I speak from experience.

I'm sorry, but I can't resist....Ha! Ha! (Think Simpsons.) I recorded every episode when the series first came out and still have them in my collection next to both the MK movies, MK: Trilogy, and MK4. MK:DA is in my PS2 right now.
Athough, I might buy MKC on DVD later on if the price is right for the better quality of picture and no commercials.
