The easiest way to have the franchise kick it into high gear from the opening of the film is to have Linden Ashby voiceover the highlights of the second movie in a sarcastic like script read. At the point when Liu Kang and Shao Khan do animalities, the scene is ripped from the screen and flutters as part of a script proposal for a new MK movie as Johnny Cage tosses it into the nearest bin.
He then goes off at his agent for even showing him a script where he dies at the beginning, they replace the actor who played Raiden in his first movie, they change his hair to a brushcut, etc, etc, they use a skinny woman as Sheeva.... the list goes on. The agent tells Johnny that he thought that if he died at the start, then he could dedicate more time to becoming the Producer of the film. Johnny fires him on the spot , telling him it it time to get serious....leaving the agent crying on his knees in the open doorway of Johnny's office with the line " What do I tell my wife and kids......." It is a small nod to the "Spielberg" director guy from the first movie telling Johnny he will be directing traffic if he doesn't get the shots he needs......
Then we indeed get serious with a new set of kick -ass visual titles, No Techno, but a proper score.... and we open with the deadly alliance / dragon king story...... see.... easy.
