THE CORE PLOTLINES

- The tenth tournament that decides the fate of Earthrealm due to Shang and Goro winning the previous tournaments.

- Liu Kang returning from the White Lotus to represent the Shaolin in the tournament due to it being his predetermined Destiny that he was trained for. Throughout the story Kang is going to be tempted by Shang to not only use his "kill or be killed" doctrine but to potentially join his side and go against his planned purpose.

- Mortal Kombat no longer being the prestigious tournament it once was when it was ran by the Shaolin but now a "concentration camp" for Shang Tsung to be able collect enough souls to please his gods and regain his former strength and youth he once had as well as gaining Earthrealm for Kahn's sake.

- The uncorrupted Earthrealm warriors(Liu Kang, Johnny cage etc) being tempted to follow the "kill or be killed" doctrine which can possibly render them savages in due time alongside letting their souls get corrupted by relying on the black magic that surrounds the island.

- Backstory on the possibility of Shang Tsung using foul play to to insure Goro's victory against The Great Kung Lao

CHARACTER RIVALRIES/AGENDAS FOR COMPETING

Sonya/Kano rivalry: Simply due to her wanting to stop him because he's the leader of the Black Dragon.

Subzero/Scorpion: Scorpion wanting revenge for the murder of his family, clan, and himself by the hands of Subzero and inadvertently intercepts Sub-zero's mission to assassinate Shang Tsung.

Liu Kang/Shang Tsung: Liu Kang wanting to kill Shang to fulfill his destiny and restore MK to the prestigous tournament it once was while Shang wants to deter him from his destiny by corrupting him and getting him to join his side.

Raiden: Participating in Mortal Kombat due to lack of faith in the humans after they have lost several times and due to an invitation from Shang Tsung to compete.

Reptile: Not officially in the tournament but lurking in the shadows to protect Shang Tsung due to a promise Shang made to him to resurrect his species.

Johnny Cage: For fame/prestige and to restore his credibility as a legitimate martial artist to the public.
