- Good action, although some very short parts (Sonya especially got the short end of the stick).

- It did an ok job of following the storyline, despite but heavy disregard for it, and although the ending kind of threw it off a bit and made way for Annihilation to knife it in the back.

- Very good acting, I thought, especially on Shang Tsung's part. That guy was a great villain.

- Like the first poster said, some cheesy parts. Johnny Cage really didn't have to yell out "They're already here" when Sonya said her friends were gonna come for her. And I wish Raiden would be less cheesy in his lines of encouragement.

I give it 3 1/2 stars out of 5. Any MK fan definately should have watched it. (When I was a kid, I used to always rent it, just because, yeah, I was borderline obsessed with MK).

I am going to have to put this into context.
As an action movie it was very reasonable 4/5 I say. Good acting Christopher Lambert (Raiden) comes across as charming and loveable and Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa(Shang Tsung) is a mainstay martial arts villian.
As a martial arts movie, however, it falls flat. 2.5/5 in my oppinion. The stunts are stereotypical of cheesy ma movies, and the coriography is just not good at all. However they did have some good advisors and martial artists to use, so it does have a limited amount of credentials.
I'm giving it a 4.5 out of 5.

To me it was near flawless in what the movie was trying to achieve, although some lines in the script were slightly cheesy and a fight scene or two was not up to par with the others.

But Mortal 'Kombat' was a great movie and the best one based on a game.

I'm going to give it a 3 1/2 out of 5.

Great action scenes, excellent acting, and the characters were portayed well.

It's flaws were that many significant things were changed such as Scorpion's ... uhh .... screeching dragon head lizard thing.

Sub-Zero's death was just outright obnoxious.

As far as I knew Reptile was a half-human/ half - lizard creature. Not a poorly digitized animation of a multi-colored lizard who came to life by being eaten by a statue. Sometimes I think they did shit like that on purpose to hurt the movie. I mean, honestly, who really thought that was a good idea?

It had way too many pointless script fillers - such as Art Lean.

But, like I said, it really was a good movie overall if you can be open-minded about it.
