In the first MK game they were portrayed as Asian. Scorpion was a Japanese ninja before he died, and Sub-Zero was a Chinese member of the Lin Kuei. Well scorpion and Sub-Zero are now portrayed as white in the newer games and movies/TV. Is this because the majority of people who play MK are white males and the fans don' want their favorite characters (Sub-Zero and Scorpion) to be "Asian"? You can't change the race of Liu-Kang or Kung Lao because they don't wear a mask. And now Cyrax is of African descent?! Did they do that because of the lack of African American character in MK? I wish they would stop messing with the original storyline and keep in solid.

Good eye there Hagu.

Plus, Wasn't Shang Tsung Asian too?

I'm pretty sure he was, and in all the MK games, Including MK1 he appears as a white person. And looking at the MK:A render, he looks like he is a white person too.

I agree. Shang Tsung was originally Asian as Hanzo/Scorpion was Asian too before being killed. According to Sub Zero's history, he and his brother were raised in America and went to China together to begin training with his father. They could be mixed, even though they are white in the series, which goes the same for Hanzo. Sure, they were played by white actors, but I don't care whether they are Asian or not. There were many issues like Jade being Asian in the movie while she looks as if from African descent. Cyrax and Sektor (Seen in DOTR) were orignally African. I am guessing that the clan is mixed most likely, but nationality of kombatants isn't a huge issue to me and probably to some fans. I thought I saw a thread like this somewhere... confused *Please don't close the thread mods. The starter for the possible thread is completely different.*

I still think Scorpion has a tanned Asian skin color for his arms and face. I actually think Jade is Asian. Jade is an Asian name and many Asians living in south Asia have near African skin color. I agree that the Jade in the move is too light skinned to play her. Cyrax is black in the game but Asian/white in DOTR cartoon. Sektor's race is unknown in the game but black in DOTR. Hopefully he's Chinese because that's what the Lin Kuei is originated from. I'm pretty sure Smoke is of Asian descent too. I think Keith Cook Hirabayashi fits the description for Sub-Zero. He looks to be 5'7 in height much shorter than the 6'2 game sub-zero. They need to change sub-zero's height in the game cause he looks more like a 5'7-5'9 guy. I didn't know Robyn Shao (Liu Kang) and Paolo Montalban (Kung-Lao) are like 6'2! They looked short in the movie and tv show.
