Sometimes excessive muscularity can be be extremely off putting, especially with body builders, male and female it just looks rather unnatural. Is Sub-Zero that muscular normally? Whenever I use him, he doesn't seem that ripped. He clearly looks muscular, but it's extremely subtle from what I can tell, even in his unmasked look with less stuff on him.

Oh and the required DAT ASS remark must be made, I remember so many people laughing and oogling over Sub-Zero's butt for his MK3 costume in this game, someone on my PSN list said and I quote, "Sub-Zero has nice ass" said without the a in after has, ish is hilarious.

ok I guess I had what they would call a blonde moment.. there is the name "sub-zero" in the pic link, didn't think to look lol.. so it's definitely sub.. it will be a mass produced piece (but still limited - I guess the usual 500 or whatever)

Trust me guys once the outfit is on top it will look amazing.. it will hide most of the muscularity as usual.. but it's just the extra attention to detail pop culture shock put into their pieces - even though you can't see it, you know it's there beneath.. alot of fans used this fact to custome their street fighter statues

Not to pimp another site (MKO rocks), but just if you want to give input on this current design (the link is for Pop Culture Shock's own section).. also they have a few other announced platforms MK related/discussion going on at the moment which they are asking input for.. MK dioramas, MK collector masks, MK prop replicas, MK (1:1) busts, exciting stuff..

Looking back on it, I think the reason they put him in the Classic Sub-Zero outfit from UMK3 is because the original MK3 costume is, what's the word for it, "quite shit."

Personally I'm all for them ditching that aerobic instructor look. If they want to reference his MK3 look, they're better off using his DA version.

So people actually want the MK3 shirtless/suspenders look? Guess I know who to hand the shittiest taste award to this year.

The original MK3 one is the way it was supposed to be, it's the look that appeared in MK3. I like the original look better and that's the one that should be made.


The updated one isn't bad, but it's supposed to be a "classic skin" i.e. look exactly like the classics look.

Sub-Zero looks like the size you'd expect Jax to look, that's a bit much to be honest. At least he's getting a statue though.

The thing of it for me is I've always thought the UMK3 ninja outfit looks ugly as hell, it's not really any improvement over the "suspenders" at all. Sure, there's been modified versions of it in MK4 and Shaolin Monks that lost the weird superhero costume look it usually has, like that giant colored patch over the ass, but those were Scorpion-only costumes with cool details that suited him. It's never worked for me on anyone else.

Honestly, I just want him in what he ACTUALLY wore. If they're gonna go to the trouble of modelling a statue of MK3 Sub-Zero, it ought to be fuckin' accurate to the character, shouldn't it? I mean the only reason the "Klassic" costume in 9 fucked it up was because they clearly originally intended to release the UMK3 ninjas costume as an alt like they did the MK1 and 2 costumes, but since fan demand for an unmasked Sub-Zero was so high, they slapped a different head on what they already had done and rushed it out the door instead of going to the trouble of modelling his whole body properly. The sculptors don't really have that "we were halfway done on one thing and decided to make it into another thing instead" problem right now since all they have done of the clothing is his wrists and shins.
But judging by the comments over at their forum, people actually LIKE the mix and match of the wrong head on the wrong costume, they seem to think it's like getting two characters in one somehow...which doesn't exactly make sense to me, but whatever. Since I'd be the only dissenting voice, I guess I'll just shut up and not buy the statue. I probably wouldn't have been able to afford it anyway.

Maybe they only have the license for MK9 and went with that version. I agree that he kinda looks too big.

With the 2-in-1 comment I didn't mean it literally so to speak.. but what I mean is this.. *IF* they include sub-zero's mask (it's just a tease at this point, so it's certainly at least a possibility), that will then have the same outfit as Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, not just mix-and-match.. without the mask, it will have the MK9 DLC look.. so the way I personally would like to see it, if the mask were included, is UMK3 klassic sub-zero, but with a swith-out portrait from MK3 which happens to look just like the digitised model which I think is pretty cool.
