Another burning question... for the next film (or game after Armageddon) will they finally release the dragon from it's stone-like prison? They teased us with the Annihilation title display, as they show the dragon's real body breaking loose and with an evil right eye that shows that he is very much alive. Will the next display be of that same beloved dragon in it's true form? It should, as well as be surrounded by a ring of fire instead of just a stone hinge.

Much better topicwink The MK dragon symbol has captivated me since I bought MK1 for my Amiga way back in 1993.

I always loved the stone movie dragon, it is one of my favourites cus it makes me think of Shang's island, ancient tournament etc. The red eye is really cool too.

Anyways, on the specific topic, check the intro of MK:Annihilation with the flaming dragon and you will see the symbol explode after ANNIHILATION comes up, escaping if you willgrin

But really on the topic, I hope not. It was cool how the icon sort of followed on from the 1st film's symbol, but I think they need to go in a new direction now - but maybe keep a hint of the old ones (the red eye imo), but do something unique for MKD.

Not a bad idea, but the Dragon Logo is too iconic, I think... an actual dragon (depending on how the design's executed, I guess) could throw new-comers off in a way, but then, it may not.

If Midway decide to run with the concept that the dragon "within" represents the One Being attempting to escape (or reform, rather), I may just implode from over-excitement because the idea that we've been looking at it all this time is really intriguing, when you think about it.

Some believe that it may relate to the physical forms of the Elder Gods, given "Onaga's Potential Ending", showing him fending off living replicas of the Dragon Logo, while the accompanying text describes his assault on the Elder Gods themselves. Personally, at first, I'd figured them to be "spawn-offs" of the One Being itself, but I like the Elder God theory a whole lot better. I doubt Raiden transformed into a dragon or something when he was an Elder God, though...

Where am I going with this? Nowhere, really. Nice thread.

I thought the dragon came out of the stone thing because the rules were broken. If i remember correctly the statue was repaired when the movie ended.

I hope the Dragon logo stays the way it is, it really is iconic, changing it could do the franchise not much good, since everyone relates the dragon with MK. i'd like to keep it that way

I wasn't really talking about that which of the movie's title screen. I'm talkin about the poster. The title screen's dragon was first made of sheer iron, and then by the time the word Annihilation came up, the dragon turned into a rusty gold, and broke. That's what you are talking about. What I'm talking about is the one that is on the poster. I'm wondering will they finally "release the dragon within," like someone put it earlier. But you are on another page with that one.

I think that would be pretty silly. It's a fantastic logo, but it wouldn't make a good character.

It would be cool if they used the logo in con juction with the tattoo they used in the second movie to recognised as travellers from another world.

Then, if did a flash back at the start of the third installment. The tattoo would fly from the character of the flash back and then fly up to the screen as the logo, then back to the same character to where he/she is at present time.

That would be a great animated way to start from either movie. gringringrin
