These are thoughts and ideas I've been thinking about for a third MK movie.
If they were to get well-knowns; maybe they should get Wesley Snipes (as Jax), Keaneau Reeves (as Kenshi), Lucy Liu (as Li Mei), and Kelly Hu (as Frost). If they get into the third movie the film may have a chance of being a box office hit! It could probably gross around 200 million in the U.S. and lots more world wide.
Another reason they might be waiting so long to get started on the movie is so they can have a really high budget. Maybe $100 million or more.
How do you think the characters from MKDA should look in the movie? I've been thinking Sonya, Sub-Zero, Kung Lao and Quan Chi should look the way they do in their alternate outfits. While everyone else should look the way they do in their primary outfits. What do you all think?
If they do make changes to any of the characters, they better NOT be bad changes. I have a feeling Frost and Sub-Zero won't have icy hair like in the game. I hope Bo Rai Cho won't be so disgusting like in MKDA.
They also better use good special effects, scenery, and music like in the Lord of the Rings and the Matrix movies. That would help a lot. They should also consider blood, grusome effects and an R rating.
I believe if it wasn't for Christopher Lambert and the PG-13 rating, the first movie wouldn't have done as well as it did at the box office.
Does anyone else have thoughts or ideas of how the next MK movie should look good? I would really like to hear your thoughts.

The reason they're "taking so long" is because Threshold are in the middle of making a movie! It's called Foodfight and is due out in 2005 - it's a CGI animated movie, and Kasanoff's plans are to turn Threshold into the future of computer-generated animation.
As for the budget, they don't sit there saving up money, because that'd mean it comes out of Kasanoff's own pockets - a VERY dangerous move to make. A smaller production company, like Threshold, would take their plans to a larger film company, like New Line or Fox or whoever, who'd GRANT them the budget.
The last movie had a 30million budget and absolutely tanked... they wouldn't grant them a 100million budget or more for a film & TV franchise that has been relying on constricted budgets.

Oh gosh. Those are only reasons why a third movie may not happen.

Than maybe Threshold should not do a third movie. That tells me they don't watch what they spend on a movie. Do you agree?

Another thing I wanted to mention is, since MKA was a big failure and box office flop; critics and press reviewers are recommending that they don't bother doing a third movie. They also probably say MKA itself should not have been made for many reasons. That's why now and than I get the feeling a MK3 movie may never happen.
