Well, if you accept that non-canonical bullshit that says that the MK tournament takes place in each generation, and assuming that a generation is made of 20 years, then MK Conquest takes place in 1792/1795, late 18th century.

If you assume that though non-canonical, MK C does not follow that 20 years rule, and uses the canonical fact (MK happening every 50 years), then MK C happens in 1492/1495, late 15th century.

The choice is yours .

It takes place aprox. 10 generations before the first movie/game. If we assume that the Liu Kang, Sonya and Johnny Cage tournament takes place, in, say... 1996, the very first episode of Conquest, which sees Kung Lao's first (and well, last) tournament victory... Taking in account that after that tournament, Shao Kahn would 9 in a row thanks to Goro, it would mean that...

1996 - (50 x 9) = 1546

There you go. The first episode of MKC takes place in 1546.

But Zentile, you assume that a generation is made of 50 years. Wich i don't know if is possible.. By canon storyline, yes MKC takes place 500 years ago, but in the games they never mentioned the "every generation" crap, while in the movies they did, not in Conquest though..

All of this is very confusing, there is a possible gap of 300 years in the storyline, because they decided to say that the MK tournament happens "every generation" in the movies, but never explained how much time is their definition of "generation".

EDIT: i've just read somewhere on the internet, that a "generation" is the period of time between someone's birth's, and the birth's of his/hers offspring, and a "generation" is a period of time that can go from 10 years, to a maximum of 75 years... so yeah, when they say "every generation", they are refering to 50 years. In the movies they just never say that Kung Lao was defeated 500 years ago. And by society's standards, a woman can only give birth until her late 40's, and still it is kind of late to have a baby (i was born when my parents were 40, now i'm 17... ), so a "generation" is mostly seen as a period of about 20 years or a maximum of 30, when in the MK storyline it is a time gap of 50 years.

Well, Goro defeated Kung Lao "500 years ago". Assuming MK1 takes place in 1992, then 500 years prior should be 1492... the same year Columbus discovered America!

This is ten MK tournaments ago, so I did the math, and an MK tournament must take place every 50 years. This is confirmed in MKD's Konquest mode (I believe Master Chen mentions this number in the super-rare White Lotus mission).

Since MKC starts off with Kung Lao defeating Shang Tsung, we could say this must take place 50 years prior to 1492... I don't know how much time has passed by the time we get to the last episode, but it makes sense that the first episode at least takes place in the year 1442.
