I think the first two movies were mistakes, with bad acting, directing, and pretty much everything else. Other than nastasia they are worthless. when they make a new movie, they should start fresh with a new cast, script and director. Dose anyone agree with me on this.

I do agree that the acting and the script for both movies were pretty poor but let's face it, MK1 was good and I enjoyed watching it. Now, MKA was a big mistake! A HUGE ONE!

I agree that MK:A should pretty much be thrown out completely...mostly because it screwed around with the game plot with all that "family" buisness. Oh..and because it was the bastard-child of game-made-movies.

MK1 wasn't bad. Granted, it coulda been better, but as far as sticking to the plot, with decent fighting and halfway-decent effects....MK was solid.

Mortal Kombat: Annhilation was to the MK universe what Highlander 2 was to the Highlander universe... total shit. I really think that some day, there should be a new begining to the MK series for movies, with these important factors:

1. Stick with the game's story: Sonya didn't kill Kano, Cage didn't kill Scorpion, Liu didn't kill Sub-Zero, etc, etc.

2. Better writing and acting: The first one wasn't too bad... but the second was like a shitacular saturday morning live action kids show.

3. Darker mood and higher violence: This is what MK is known for... I'm not saying go for NC-17, but at least an R. "Resident Evil" was R (as will be the sequel), and it did pretty damn good at the box office and on video. But nowadays, releasing films on DVD as "unrated" is becoming a big marketing ploy, so they can shoot a violent and gory version, then cut a few minor bits here and there for an R.

Actually, I liked the fact that it's not necessarily EXACT to the game. MK1 was cool, I used to think like you "Oh, MK movie should have been exact to the game" but let's face it MK movie was great. Who cares if it wasn't Game perfect? Don't have such a closed mind.

MK1's game storyline would suck for a movie. I like the movie version alot better, except from the point after Cage beats Goro. From there on, nothing makes sense.

Hey I'm all for some breathing room when it comes to plot. I just think that MK1 didn't meet up to standards when it came to acting plot or gore.

I thought the acting in MK1 was pretty good... fitted the mk universe just fine

Gore... I think it would kind of cheapen the movie if there was too much... there are movies where it fits like Kil Bill where the blood sprouting all over is made to look funny, kind of like a joke to old kung fu movies... but in mk... imagine Shang falling to the pit and blood sprouting all over... it would look kind of dumb...

Plus, the MK fanbase is retty young... U can ask ur dad to buy you the M game... but u can't go with your friends to an R movie...

Gimmy a break "cheapen it". What game-movie are you talking about. Mk is the king of gore END OF STORY. Don't you get it, 50% of draw to the game in the first place is Gore. And don't gimmy the "I'm to young for an "R" rateing but not an "M". If you aren't old enough to handle an "R", your playin the rong game.

I think the first one was really good. MK:A just needs to be tossed out and we can pretend like it was never made.

Personally, I don't think all the gore is necessary for the movies. A little, sure. For a game I want to see some good violence, but for the movie I want to concentrate on the story and backgrounds for these characters, as well as see some good martial arts scenes that show why they were all chosen to compete. In my opinion, Shang Tsung falling into the pit of spikes in the first one wouldn't have had as much of a profound impact if a large pool of blood seeped from his body all around him; the souls leaving his body is what grabs the attention and makes you watch to see what happens next on-screen.

The game might be known for the gore, but the point of movies it so show what these characters are all about too, not just to watch two hours of a bloodbath. If I want that I can just go back to playing the games and ignore the movie.

They need to make another second movie and elaborate on those characters and gradually introduce new ones, like Mileena, Kung Lao, Jax and Shao Kahn. Oh yeah, and not be so sexist with the fight scenes like they were in the first. That's all I'm asking.

OK, let's calm down buddy. Not saying you're flaming, just trying to cool you down before you do.

I don't think nowadays 50% of the draw is just about the gore. It certainly has an influence, it's what got MK it's name in the market, but it's not really that important anymore. And the first movie was good without the gore.

Although I do agree, mk3 better have some gore in it. It would really make it darker.

Thanks for the clarification, and sorry for a the intensity of my opinion. I don't realy meen to undermine the story element at all. I seriously just want to make the point that MK fans have grown and we would like the films to be more mature.

Couldn't have said it better
Im in for starting over but keeping some of the actors that made the first MK movie a solid film. Lui, Raiden, Johnny, Scorpion ect. MK:A was a shamble and disgrace to the MK franchise and i feel that MK3 should be like a remake of it so it can put MK:A in a coffin buried neva to be opened again.

But i also have a great end fight scene that i imagined in a day dream when i was listeing to Fear Factory's Zero Signal, this is absolutely awesome and ill post the dream if anyone wants to hear about it and how it could make MK3 a great movie.
