I gotta agree with Shao Kahn’s Nipples. I’ve been a HUGE MK fan since I was 9, playing the first game in the arcades, shaking out the couch cushions for spare quarters and sneaking away on my bike with my friends to try the fatalities I heard rumored around school.
I’m old now, I have a very demanding job, I have a girlfriend and her son who suffers from extreme autism living with me. Though I love them both to death and they always come first, everyone needs something to unwind. I have been a faithful fan only Midway and NRS. And though I think these decisions are more coming from corporate WB stooges than NRS themselves, regardless it’s bullshit.
My girlfriend was introduced to MK as well as Injustice by me, and it’s one of several things we do together and enjoy. I’ll build up coins and let her go on a shopping spree in the Krypt. Jade is her favorite character, but she didn’t wanna play with a revenant skin. After dumping almost 500k into the Krypt without a single Jade skin, I bought some time crystals to unlock a “human” skin for Jade for my lady to enjoy..... FIVE FUCKING DOLLARS. For a single skin. When what, a whole character like Shao Kahn is what, $6? $7?
I’m a businessman, I understand supply and demand, and sometimes you gotta hook your consumers and keep em coming. But 5 bones for a single skin? After pumping hour after hour after buying 2 copies of the game (one for me, one for her console), this is just bullshit. I’m not trying to shit-talk NRS, but we, as fans, we are getting our legs pissed on with this bullshit

Amen brother.
Also, reading "I gotta agree with Shao Kahn’s Nipples" made me laugh out loud.
My wife asks what I'm laughing at. "Oh nothing, just a Mortal Kombat forum."
"Loser."
To be fair, you can't really argue with those nipples
Or you'll get the hammer
You could subjectively call any task you do in a game a grind, the enjoyment factor is what is key. And the krypt, the chests, towers -- they all just suck. That's why people are bitching. It isn't fun, it sucks, and it's fashioned in a way similar to how "mobile game" grinds are where you're encouraged to drop some cash to pass it faster for whatever little carrot you want. Personally I'd say don't pay any more than you have to, and if the game is enough of a headache see if you're still in a return window and get your money back.
