dunno how it is handled in another platforms, but on PC there are several save slots. once something happened and data are corrupted, the game uses the last uncorrupted one. happened to me twice in MKX and once in Injustice 2. one MKX was unpleasant as i lost a lot of progress, about 6 hours of playing for Brutalities nad wins counts.

Same for me which is why I think my last trophy won’t unlock meaning I can’t get the platinum. So annoying

I got this twice already. Way before the last patch though. I lost some stuff but nothing major. Settings reset to default, brutalities counter went to 0, some online stats went to 0 and I had to set up defenders in AI battles again because the game thought it's my first time playing. Same for tutorials but they are still completed so no actual progress lost.

I figured out the issue. The corrupted data only happens when I use the AI Battles.

I deleted my settings twice now and each time I go into AI Battle I get the message next time I boot up my system that the SAVE DATA is corrupted and I can delete it or continue to use it. Every time I delete it, it only wipes out my AI Battle data making me start all over with my Win/Loss record.

I believe the AI Battles is what is causing the corrupted data.

Happened to me in different occasions. Funny thing was that whenever I got rewards, all the time I'd get one or two Frost masks (with the icon appearing empty).

Yesterday while online it crashed with the warning:

"Game data is corrupted, please verify game installation integrity. File: Assets\GEARSSETS_SKA_ScriptAssets_ENG.psf"

Checked game files integrity twice and it came back OK. I'm re-installing the game from scratch.

Still, the file path got me thinking it could be, in my case, custom Skarlet's gear (which I will change).

Funny though mine doesn't crash the game. Mine only corrupts my AI Battle stats like my Wins and Losses. Every time I go into AI Battle and use it, turn off the game to go to bed, work or whatever, I come back turn it on and every time I get the same message. I delete the corrupted data and those are the only things I loose. I keep everything else including skins and other items I've unlocked through AI Battle, the game just doesn't want to keep my stats or team or anything?

When it asks you to try to load again click yes. That's what I've been doing and I don't lose anything.
