In Avengers Infinity Wars Thanos performs a snap with a fully powered up infinity gauntlet, wiping out 50% of life in the Marvel universe. Do you think Kronika did something similar in MK11? From the Courtyard and newly revealed Goro's Lair stages it seems like characters have been frozen in place, drained of their life energy. This could be Kronika's way of balancing the forces and enacting an 11th tournament with the remaining chosen to determine the fate of the timeline.

Nah. Her agenda appears to be more along the lines of undoing the havoc that Raiden's interference wrought on the original timeline, maybe to the degree that she's willing to destroy an Elder God. That, and it seems to be a little too soon to be knocking off ideas from a much more widely recognized franchise.

Both the Courtyard and Goro's Lair are located on an island that was completely destroyed. This is an educated guess, but I think NRS just took inspiration from the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in Pompeii (modern-day Italy) and the existence of images of the many ash-caked, statuesque corpses that seemed to be frozen in time.

If she did they'd be a pile of ashes, so nah.
