They look AMAZING. I found the fatalities in MKX to be kind of boring overall. They looked great graphically and in terms of detail with the gore but it felt like they lacked imagination compared to fatalities back in the day. The fatalities they showed in the reveal really impressed me. It seems like they stepped up the creativity.

Subby using his ice clone holding a spear of ice to impale Scorpion and then perform the spine rip taking Scorp's head with him and then slinging the head by the spine down onto the spear that Scorpion is impaled on protruding through his torso.

Holy FUCK.

What was your favorite?

I'm most impressed by Sonya's. They were unexpectedly fun, especially the chopper.

Skarlet's fatality with the blood spikes, that one stuck out to me.

The Sub-Zero Ice Statue Fatality was indeed impressive, as was Scorpions(?), where he took out his spear, teleported into the ground to come up on the other side, with the chain of the spear and pulling it, slicing the opponent in half.

But damn, the whole in-game presentation was impressive.

The only think I don't like about the fatalities so far is that they don't really end. It's satisfying to see everything hit the floor, and the slow motion has been way overused by now.

did anyone see raidens fatality ? hmm think i missed it if it was done .

It was shown on MKO's stream, not the Live event. Mobster performed it. Raiden shocks the body into the air, then your limbs seperate but are attached by electric currents, then he causes them to retract/compact into your torso. It was pretty neat.

Agree. It's nice the first few times, but the "no ending fatality" can be the "party pooper".

Like casting "Knights of the Round" on every random encounter?

They’re just using the slow motion ending from Injustice, and now incorporating into MK. Very lazy on their part. MK should have its own identity, and should not be a rehash of Injustice.

If I’m being honest, they were all pretty great. Sonya’s, Scorpion’s, and Baraka’s were probably my favorite.

I agree that the slo-mo endings make this MK feel just a little too Injustice-y, but at the same time, I've felt that many if not most of previous games' Fatalities kinda didn't know how to end. Like, a character would just stop in a pose (usually holding a body part or two) and I'd be thinking, "Okay... so how long do you plan on standing there holding that?" or, "So uhhh... who exactly are you posing for right now? There's no audience in this arena. A bit self-obsessed, are we?" Sometimes a character, like Kabal in his MK9 intestine slash, would leave their weapons behind as an integral part of some macabre artwork they just made, raising the question of how lame it's going to look when they have to take it apart 30 seconds later.

MKX did a little better than usual by having some characters walk away all badass, like Jax with his T-Wrecks (one of the best Fatalities in the game overall). But some awkward standing around remained, like with Sonya's head-snatching one.

Ending a Fatality on an action shot is no less "final," and it lets you relish the blood-splattered splendor of what just happened for a little bit longer. And it mostly eliminates the question of how a Fatality should "end" on a satisfying note -- since the moment of final impact is inherently more awesome than practically any denouement you can come up with. So overall I approve of this change, but kinda wish MK had been the one to do it before or instead of Injustice.

Guys, the slowmotion after each fatality is because of the Kronika's ability to stop time. That's why it gets slowed, it's like the time stopped.

The slow-mo thing is fine for me. It is an interesting way to make a cut. When they showed the fatality trailer, they also showed fatal blows.... could it be, that fatal blows could also end in a fatality? Some X-Rays in MKX had the possibility to kill the opponent. I would appreciate it if fatal blows could also end in death.

LOL.

Ed Boon explained that it took a lot of work and time to make the the blood and the physics of the blood to work. The slow motion at the end of the fatality is to "frame" the fatality and put emphasis on it and the blood tech.

I mean, laziness is practically a signature of NRS. And with the schedule WB seems to have them on these days, I would start to expect more and more corner cutting and for the lines between franchises to blur even more.

But about the Fatalities. It's nice to see Sub-Zero finally get a proper spine rip again. Scorpions, eh pretty dull. It's just too much. It's almost as if someone on the team favors him and really wants to flex and convey how "super cool" he is.

Just give him, the damn Toasty Fatality Boon. With all this gore tech you could have made that a body horror spectacle.
