Yes, the worst thing for me is the Cage family AGAIN, they tend to revolve the ENTIRE story around themselves, and I don't want a repeat of the SOAP opera that is called Mortal KOmbat X, worst story of all times.

1 game. The story revolved around them for literally 1 game.

Before that the franchise revolved around Liu Kang for 4 games in a row, Shang Tsung & Quan Chi for 1 game (I’d argue DA had no standout protagonist), Shujinko & Onaga for 1 game, Taven for 1 game, and if anyone, MK9 revolved around Raiden. Frankly a fair bit of MKX did too. And Kotal. And Mileena. And even D'Vorah. The Cage's absolutely bookended the plot of MKX, and stole the glory at the end, but it's not as if the sum total of the plot didn't pay ample attention to loads of other characters (even a few villains, unlike MK9). Entire chapters had little to nothing to do with the Cages.

By every indication we’ve seen, MK11’s plot seems to be paying Liu Kang & Kung Lao at least some amount of due, as we’ve seen multiple scene snippets involving them both living & dead. Furthermore, we have yet to see one iota of any of the Cage family in any story capacity whatsoever, as a matter of fact. Furthermore the entire REASON they were significant in MKX (at least from a plot perspective) was they were descended from a lineage (apparently) tailor-made to defeating Shinnok, information which (apparently) never came out in the old timeline because Liu Kang was present to defeat Shinnok instead, but with the absence of Liu Kang, they (apparently) had to step up to do-so in MKX.... I realize the writers just BS’ed that all up in MKX to give Cassie's otherwise unlikely defeat of Shinnok some credibility... but still... Shinnok has already been defeated in MK11. The thing that made them significant in MKX has already been removed from the board before 11’s plot even starts.

Do I think the Cage's will be present and likely also get ample attention? Yes. But we’ve seen nothing to indicate the plot revolves around them thus far. Nor does it “tend to” whenever they're present. One of them has only ever been in one game. The two that have been in multiple games were usually playing second fiddle to Liu Kang.

I hear you man. The Cages have been in the spotlight ever since MKX, which covers like twenty-some years of the series' history. It's almost like the previous nine games, where Johnny and Sonya were barely around and Cassie didn't exist, never even happened.

And God, talk about a soap opera! You know how the Tekken story is one long saga of Mishima this, Mishima that, who's killing who this time, who's taking over the family business, Mishima Mishima Mishima every single game for seven games, with everybody and their great-grandfather and adopted brother and dead wife and secret lovechild showing up to fight and zero of the other characters making a significant impact on the story? Yeah, the new Cage daughter's turn as protagonist is like eighteen times worse than that.

Like you, seeing MKX include some bits of character-driven family drama woven through the Outworld Civil War and Shinnok invasion storylines just totally consumes me with unjustified rage. Only Sub-Zero and Noob Saibot, Kitana and Mileena and Shao Kahn and Sindel get to do that!

Another MK game, yet another disappointing, bland, uninspired roster.

The only excitement seems to be Skarlet and Frost for me. Mainly because Skarlet wasn't someone I was expecting to see ever again and Frost because I'd take any 3D era character at this point that ISN'T Kenshi/Quan Chi.

MK spans multiple genres. Is it the story direktion or the fakt there is a story, as konvoluted as it seems, that bothers you?

Some fans want only fighting, no story at all. When you swap out roster spots, they need a korrisponding story reason as to why these khanges happened or the story fans will akkost you. Simply nixing kharakters bekause of your personal dislike is empty. What direktion would you take the story? A bunch of random guys fighting in various lokations for no reason is equally empty without strukture.

The roster is kind of fishy at this point. I'm hoping for 2 guest characters and 10 MK for DLC. The gameplay is simplistic enough to add a good amount of characters. Kitana mileena cage Jax noob smoke kenshi ermac reptile shang.... That's alot of people left out. Sareena would make bank as DLC simply cause people think they would never see her again just like scarlet. The roster might have that scroll slot like mk9 did.

Oh no. no... I'm seriously going to be devastated by the loss of reptile. If they don't come to their senses and make him DLC, or, or OR, at LEAST gimmie a cyber-Reptile DLC, I shall find them and fling my excrement at whomever is responsible for this loss.

there are no other leaked ninjas on the roster yet. If Noob or smoke are not on the roster then I think Reptiles chances of DalC inclusion just got that much slimmer

The PS Vita version of MK9 has a 2nd Challenge Tower where a couple missions have Reptile steal/wear cyber armor from a cyber Lin Kuei grunt. Another has Skarlet captured, and made cyber, but she loses her blood ball move.
