After the credits of Mortal Kombat X's story mode we see a corrupted Raiden who threatens the new Netherrealm rulers (Kitana and Liu Kang) and, tells them that he will no longer just defend Earthrealm. He will eliminate any threat to Earthrealm as he sees fit. Obviously Liu Kang and Kitana are the obvious choices but what about Kotal Kahn and Outworld. Kotal Kahn's ending Raiden defeats him and claims dominion over Outworld as he doesn't trust the realm. Kotal then pleads to the Elder Gods for help and they introduce a Mortal Kombat tournament where the strongest Outworld warriors defend their realm against Earthrealm's strongest. I would like a hybrid of the two stories.

In this version the sequel would introduce Kotal Kahn as more of a protagonist who will defend Outworld from a corrupted Raiden who is hell bent on conquering the realm as a means to protect Earthrealm. This could make characters who never really offered much to the story in MKX like Ermac, Erron Black, Ferra/Torr, and Reptile a bigger role in the story. It also finally allows us to play as characters who have traditionally been in the Evil/Neutral faction. We get to see things from the perspective Outworld characters for once.

Raiden and his Earthrealm warriors will invade the realm, all the while Liu Kang and Kitana will be ready to take advantage of the fact that the 2 realms that could stand in opposition to them are in a war with each other.

I haven't really thought about it much but it seems like a cool idea to me. Tell me what ideas you have for the next MX story.
