I just want to say that both look fantastic in MK11. I would play them for sure! The new voice actors for both fits them way better than previous ones. I wish I could be able to play the game but at least I had the opportunity to watch story mode.
When you do play the game... You're in for a great treat! Kombat gameplay is best since mk2 imho.

Liu is amazing in this game and I think it's the first time they've truly done the character justice since the series went 3D.
I just want to know when or why it was decided that this childish envy Kung Lao has for Liu Kang would become his defining character trait and story? This was a silly thing we all scoffed at in Shaolin Monks that came about due to the co-op nature of the game.
But ever since that game it has become his sole character motivation and it's just ridiculous and a total lobotomization and misrepresentation of what the character was. Not once was it ever hinted that he felt any animosity towards Liu, or dealt with some inferiority complex when it came to him. He was his friend and besides that Kung Lao always seemed too stoic and cool to be caught up on jealousy.
Now he's just arrogant, petty and juvenile.

This
Kung Lao was the mysterious Shaolin. How the heck did they manage to turn him into this inferiority complex is way beyond me.

I don't know if you noticed but you answered your own question. It was Shaolin Monks that made Kung Lao and Liu Kang idiots. And as much as I love the game, the plot and its execution was a trainwreck with a dumsterfire towing along on a 10 meter rope. And as much as I hate to admit it, with the current state of things nothing's gonna change for the better.
PS. You seem to like LoK, so here's a comparison: MK:SM is what BO2 is in LoK lore. Alas, there is no Ken McCulloch (writer of the original BO1) or Amy Henning to straighten the mess so we have what you see.

Remember when NRS (At the time the MK Team.) said Shaolin Monks was going to be a canonical fleshed out retelling of the story of MK 2? Then it was so laughably bad (Later on so bad it's good.) that they swept those claims under the rug and declared it as non canon.
Meanwhile, they seemed to be pulling from Shaolin Monks every time they retread those events in the canon. Sub-Zero being motivated by revenge, Kung Lao being in a perpetual dick measuring contest with Liu ect and I just don't get why.
NRS acknowledged the story was bad. So why retroactively refit the characters to those depictions?
Also yes, big LOK fan and right on to you for the comparison, though if Dead Sun had happened I think that would have been a more apt comparison to the dumbing down MK has received.
I fully understand :D
But I wont be buying the dlc, I will wait for the komplete edition.
I'll sell the original and get te komplete edition.
