I'm growing tired of these rehashed story lines. I thought the point of starting over in the first place was for the series to go down a fresh path, not just re-tell previous games with a few tweaks and additions. It's going to take quite a bit for me to get on board with MK11. Raiden going dark was an awesome change, back in 2004....it's played out now and him being the "big bad" isn't exactly shocking or riveting for me.

Only promising thing about some of these leaks are the return of some of the 3D era characters, many of whom I think deserve a second chance. I hate the mentality of people to just throw the baby out with the bath water. Characters like Nitara, Li Mei, Bo possibly returning are enough to wet my appetite.

Guess we won't truly know what's going on until around E3 next year. Either way, I'm not liking where the series is heading.

Well, if the usual work routine at NRS hasn't changed, I'd say MK 11 or whatever is named has barely begun.
Ed Boon once said that the team immediatly start the preliminary work of the next game once the previoys is released.

At this point MK 11 is just a fetus, not even the team knows how or what MK11 will look like.

Obviously they wouldn't be very far on it, but I'm sure it's more than a fetus. If they are indeed following the schedule with a release for Spring '19 then I'm sure development has already begun. Creating a video game isn't quick and easy- it takes a long time. If we're going by past experience, the game won't be officially announced/revealed until around E3/Summer '18- on track for a release of Spring '19.

MK9. Announced/Revealed in Summer 2010, released April 2011.

MKX. Announced/Revealed in Summer 2014, released April 2015.

MK11. Announced/Revealed In Summer 2018, released April 2019. Possibly.

So I'm sure they are hard at work right NOW on the game if they plan to reveal it at around E3 next year. I'm sure they have their direction and core characters figured out if nothing else.

I see no charm in doing a more Deception/Armageddon-type story line. For Mortal Kombat 9, redoing the first three games with the twist of who lives and dies was awesome and appropriate. For Mortal Kombat X, having Mortal Kombat 4 influence the overall feel of the story, while taking it in it's own direction, I thought was cool. I know there are plot holes and such, but that's a different topic. To have Taven and Daegon come back, two giant throw aways...why? Does this mean we h ave to go through Shujinko's life again? That was awesome for Deception, but it's time for this mythology to be taken in a new exciting direction. Don't get rid of all of the old characters and arenas and the feel of Mortal Kombat, but have a go at creating something we haven't seen before at all.

At this point we don't know if this rumor is bonus or bogus, but I am excited for the return of Onaga.
I could see a Brainiac scenario.
Fujin and Raiden are at war, Onaga steps in, Raiden and Fujin are forced to work togheter.
