I'm still in a complete state of "WTF" in regards to Shang not being back in the story since half the arcade ladder endings in MKX all allude to him returning.

That aside, I'm sure that he'll be a non-canon addition. I think they were eager to reach for Cary Tagawa to reprise the role and figured they couldn't have him voice over the Krypt and not at least have a rendition of him as Shang in the game.

I don't understand why the fuck can't you guys understand that the krypt's story can be part of the main game.and can be ongoing with the main story line...

What's if Shah Tsung decided to keep a low profile and just stick around in his island ?

I would think that maybe Shang Tsung got killed somehow. I could picture Shao Kahn wanting to kill Shang some point after the first tournament. Quan Chi I believe is a more powerful sorcerer than Shang so he's another possibility.
