Those roster leaks also show all of the ninjas and erron black without masks in their select screen icons. In all likelihood, that build of the game has the characters appear with nothing in place of their customizable pieces. Frost probably has multiple hair styles/hoods as one of her three customization pieces and thus the select screen show none just like how scorpion is shown without a mask. Its unclear if equipping no item will be a viable option in the full launch, but by default frost will have hair

If that was the case, everybody would be bald in their select screen pic. I'm hoping it has to do with the medallion and maybe she isnt bald in that select screen image and actually has that Jet-Li ponytail that subby had lol.

If everyone’s hair was customizable, yes. Frost looks to be a special case.

Is the rapid aging thing caused by the medallion still a thing? Doesn't seem to have taken effect on Sub-Zero this go around. I figured like most lore established in the 3D era it was just discarded. You know stuff like the Tarkatan being mutants created by Shao Kahn, Reptile's devolution; too many super powered freaks in the realms tearing apart the fabric of reality and Blaze being the pressure relief valve ect.

Also Sub-Zero shaved his head in Deception (Alternate costume) to pay homage to his discovered Cryomancer heritage.

I think this is just a symptom of Frost taking a few college classes on the side ;)

They're going out of their way to refrain from having to do long, wavy, natural, realistic looking hair, because the tech still won't allow it. That's why all we're seeing so far are hoods, hats, caps, buns, braids, ponytails, pixie cuts, or completely bald heads. I think that's the main reason.

Now I am not sure what it would really take to do this but, would it not be easier just to program canned animations for hair for certain situations? A animation for when the hair has to go up, twirl ect instead of leaving it to a physics engine?

Again I could be talking completely out of my ass because I haven't the faintest clue of what is involved when it comes to coding and everything else.

Me neither, so I can't really comment on how they should approach this issue. Hair has always been problematic in games. Older 3D fighting games all had those weird spiky hair models. It has been improving ever since, and I thought NRS got pretty close to doing realistic looking hair in Injustice 2, but for some reason, they haven't shown any hairstyles in MK11 that truly showcases what they currently can do. This worries me, because it seems as if they're simply going to avoid any hairstyle that should be waving and moving and flowing naturally. I'd love to see a Kitana with straight, loose hanging hair that moves the way long hair moves in real-life, but I honestly think they still can't pull that off, which is ridiculous if you think about, considering it's 2019. I was actually hoping they'd have the tech to finally do true monster/creature characters (like Motaro for instance), but maybe they first gotta get normal looking "hair" down, lol.

That remains to be seen. I have seen Frost concept art where she has (awesome looking) normal hair, instead of the solid spikes, which in all honestly isn't all that great to begin with. It certainly isn't very realistic. You wanna have a good laugh, google "frozen hair" (images).
