I can't deny that i have complained a bit about NPCs. They genuinely feel like a tease and when that itch doesn't get scratched, i feel like i've missed out, short-changed somehow.

However i've never made stupid threats to NRS, or started a big war over the internet with someone about it. Because i'm an adult i behave as such. I understand how to express my opinion maturely, even if you all don't agree with it.

Now, because of the assholes behaving badly, the whole franchise and fanbase will probably suffer the consequences.

Having NPCs and fightable NPCs wasn't the problem. The problem was Boon teasing that we would be able to play as them. After KP1 Boon said that if there was enough interest a KP2 with the story mode would be a possibility.

So ofcourse fans were going to let Boon and the NRS team know they wanted them. Then came months of Boon teasing [lying more likely because they had to have KP2 in production by this time] Fujin and other story mode.

So after months of trolling and hype they finally reveal KP2 and.... its not who fans expected or even wanted. 2 more shitty guest characters and a Robot that mimics the MK3 Cyborgs. I don't have a problem with Bo Rai Cho because shitty moveset aside he has a place given his importance of being Liu Kang and Kung Lao's teacher.

Ofcourse fans were going to be upset. Boon led us on for months only to give us the bait and switch. Backlash was inevitable. And that interview with GamesRadar where he says "We listen to our fans" which fans called him out on and now this interview with Chard. This is not going to endear them with fans. Boon and Co. Created this situation. They need to own it and stop throwing their fans and customers under the bus.
Why couldn't this ending have happened?

I'll never get this. I've always loved cameos. Idk about most of you but everytime a character that wasn't in the roster of a MK game popped up on the screen I was like screaming with emotion. There can't be enough room for everyone in the roster, so, why don't expand the story with cameos?

THEY EVEN MADE SOME OF THEM FIGHTABLE THIS TIME. How cool is that?
I just can't be mad that X character isn't playable, but his cameo would please me as hell, even for a brief second. Now this may not happen so often. :/

I feel the exact same way and on the flip side it has been introduced as a clear cut way to kill off minor characters; if I am to endure annoying or boring characters, I would prefer to see them within the comic or story mode cutscenes as cameos.

It's so awesome watching the winers and bitchers that caused this try to justify their wining and bitching. So awesome.

We don't even know if this was exactly the case. He said he "got the feeling".

Personally I could care less, if they got mad about people complaining. If Netherrealm wants to respond with "haha, you won't see these characters again", I'll respond by not supporting their games anymore.

I'll continue to call them lazy for not giving DLC characters that are supposed to be "complete characters" alternate costumes.

Boon and co. caused this. He intentionally lied to players by teasing that if there was enough demand for them they would make Fujin and the other story mode NPCs playable. He did it for months and now wants to cry like a baby because they're getting their long overdue backlash.

Fuck Boon. he caused most of this. Get off his dick and let him accept his share of the blame for creating this situation.

I'll admit... I was surprised Baraka wasn't DLC considering he got a redesign. But I don't think the team should let Whitney fans dissuade them.

If anything, put MORE In. Put in more than could actually appear as DLC. Cameos have been in MK for a very long time. People speculating that they are playable isn't really new either. Sure the Fujin cameo got me excited for DLC but just because I didn't get Fujin doesn't mean I'm upset that he had a cameo. It would be silly to remove cameos for getting hopes up.

I have no issues with cameos actually. Frost, Sareena, Li Mei and Bo were decent cameos. But characters like Rain, Fujin, and Tanya I almost classify as more than cameos considering they played just an integral part (if not more) in the story as the likes of some characters in the actual roster(Reptile, Ermac, Ferra/Torr, Goro ect). That and considering the fact they were decked out in fresh new costumes and what not certainly would raise expectations of them becoming DLC at the very least. I'm still surprised Bo' and Tremor made it in over Fujin.

So I don't think they should STOP with cameos but they need to be smarter about how they go about them. I also think TOO many of them actually does a disservice to the story anyway. We don't need a billion cameos from a billion characters especially when there's characters on the actual roster that needs the screen time and focus. I think Story Mode needs a significant overhaul for the next game regardless. Too repetitive- cut scene, fight, cut scene, fight, cut scene, fight- I would really like to see them doing something similar to Konquest with a bit of a more open world feel to it and the ability to choose whatever character in the game and go on a journey reflecting their current personal story- this mean arcade endings would tie into this AND would be actually cannon- no "What ifs".

Either that or just fuck the story altogether. The MK mythology and story hasn't kept me riveted since Armageddon came along and vomited all over it 11 years ago.

I have to agree! Ed Boon Trolls TOO dam much... why tease a Kombat Pack 3 to never make it? If you look at the evolution of recent games. The're too busy pushing forward not to realise the gem they could already polishing up to give us another year or two of MKX. With latest graphic creeping up takes longer to make a game. I mean we can WAIT for MK12. They could give us more DLC characters and use the time to work on the MK12 story.

I heard in one of the interviews with Ed Boon, he didn't know where to go from MKX. He should really listen to his hardcore fans!
