I play Geras and im trying to get into the game.

Literally, everyone I play against uses range attacks. But come to find out, they are the most OPest thing in the game.

I cant block cuz i take damage still. I cant jump over most of them cuz i take damage still.

I cant use Geras's range sand trap because its too slow and they spam range attacks at the speed of fucking light.

PLease explain.

Why do yal think Geras is the OPest character in the game. Most of the people that say this play scorpian and teleport around the stage. Or they play the gun character and just spam.

Um...the only response I have to this is "Get gud noob"

Geras is by far the most OP character. He can trap and hit anywhere. If you're terrible with him, you need to learn him. You aren't going to be good at the game the moment you start it up - this isn't 1993. You need to practice and play AI to learn your combos and strategies.

His sand traps cant hit anywhere like everyone thinks they do. U have to be a certain distance and aim it. for example, if he stands on the far side of the stage, my sand traps cant reach him. Im new to mortal kombat and the projectiles are different from the fighting games i play so im asking for advice on how to close in on the other player. But instead all im getting is "get gud" how am i supposed to "get gud" if when i ask a question and that's all people say? The AI dont spam like in online, why else would i be asking for advice on the forums

I do need to get used tothe character more but i pretty much know what he can and can't do. His sand traps cant reach someone that is too far and it has a slow reset timer for it so when people jump in the air and do and spam projectiles at the same time, i wanna know what i can do against that.

How does your inexperience with Geras make the game toxic? Why not just post and say “hey I’m new to this game and I’m trying to learn Geras but I keep getting zoned out. Can anyone help?”

i don’t think “git gud” is helpful, but hopefully others will be able to give you the advice you need. I’m a Kung Lao player so I unfortunately cannot. Best of luck to ya though.

Knowing what a character can do or mastering it are 2 completely different things. Yesterday I tried Geras for 2 games for the first time ever just to complete the trophy. I know what he can do now. So if you just know what he can do, you are far from being good with him.

Mastering a character means knowing what works in every single situation. One of those is knowing exactly where that sand trap hits at different ranges. Good Geras player knows that. Doesn't hit at full range? Move forward a bit. There's no such character that zones so hard that it disables your movement completely. Everyone has recovery frames. If they jump you can move too. If they have air projectile you can block and then move again when they are recovering etc.

Did you know that even pro players spend an hour or 2 in the lab almost every day, even with their mains? This is what fighting games are all about. Constantly improving every single day by trying out stuff in the lab till you master everything for/against every single character.

I know all the ranges the sand trap hits, thats one thing im really good at. i try to move foward and block while he spams but i still take damage and when i try the sand trap, its too slow against the projectiles so i instantly get knocked back to where i was. So i tried closing in for a combo but the guy i went against was really amazing at spamming and zoning so when i got close he combos the hell out me then went right back to spamming and teabagging and taunting. But thanks i guess imma just go back to the lab and try everything again

So, I'm a Johnny Cage main, and while he's definitely not Geras, he's also someone who is void of many tools and has whiffing issues.

None the less, I will say this about your struggle with projectiles. Do not block them. Simply duck them, and don't block. They will harmlessly sail over you. Now, if the opponent does an EX projectile (most of the time, again, unless you are Johnny, as his EX forceballs are both high and sail over players) block the second projectile or jump over it (if you can).

It's patience. Time your movement. Move in, try not to jump unless you have to. Duck, take a step forward, duck, step forward, etc. I know it's tedious. But it works. And it does back them into a corner and then you'll see that most of the time, their gameplan changes to go in. And that's when they'll make mistakes. Playing patiently is difficult because you just want to rush in and punish these people. But train yourself to play patiently and I promise you, you'll start getting more wins.

I'm far from good, but, I wanted to drop my two cents in to be helpful because I do understand how frustrating that can be to deal with if you don't know how to get around it. Patience. Calmness. And just keep moving in, ducking, moving in, ducking. Don't block, you'll eat damage and lose frames where you can move in.

Hope this helps! And good luck, I'm sure you'll be a great Geras player in no time.

The reason why people teabag you online and tell your scrub ass to get good on the forums is the overall attitude you have by picking geras in the first place or by assuming you know the game when you just said you were bad.

1. The quicksand CAN go far so you were false AND its the fastest projectile in the game, he can also krushing blow off of it and ALL of his krushing blows do MORE damage than FATAL BLOWS do which IS STUPID and OP. He can block on a missed quicksand as you have to down block it. Because you have to down block it..... which then he uses....

2. He can Jump over you with his OP body splash that is safe on block and can setup combos....

3. Anytime he misses a combo, he can finish a grab on the combo making almost all of them safe everytime he messes up BECAUSE he has the fastest damn low poke in the fucking game which needs to be nerfed.....

4. He has the most krushing blows, they are the EASIEST to perform AND they do the MOST damage making them OP!!!!!

5. His combos are huge and can take half of your damn life and because he has a game changing low poke or splash as wakeup options, he doesnt really need wakeup bar....Therefore, he can dish out bigger combos than the average fighter and he already has one of the nastiest corner combos in the entire game probably the BEST. OP.

6. He's a really big character with a huge hitbox and HUGE damage and hes SUPPOSED to be slow like KOtal Kahn and Shao Kahn and hes NOT! That makes those characters almost useless to play when you can just pick Geras.... That makes OP as well.

I can come up with a million more examples but if you dont like the way a character plays, then dont call the game toxic.... Pick a different fucking character you troll.
