There you go, finding a hidden advantage in an unfortunate circumstance; using pain to take you to the next level. Those are the things that turn players into kings.

I absolutely loved the style of the ruined courtyard stage in the MK11 trailer. I hope that’s a big indicator of the direction they’re going; eastern inspired, but dark and foreboding.

I don’t mind some color here and there, but MKX’s stages felt rather bland to me. Some stages just felt like a prototypical MK style of stage, but didn’t really have enough life or unique qualities to be overly memorable versus the rest of the stages we’ve seen throughout the series. They were okay. None of them were bad or ugly, but many for me were just kinda “there.”

I’d include the Jinsei Chamber, the Dead Woods, the Kove, The Outworld Marketplace, the Emperor’s Courtyard, the Refugee Kamp, the Krossroads, the Destroyed City and the Kuantan Jungle on that list.

I loved the Sky Temple, thought Quan Chi’s Fortress was perfect for him (even if that’s not the style I love in MK) and thought the Lin Kuei Temple got the job done. Beyond that, nothing really felt like an iconic stage that I’d love to see again in future games and for me, that’s kinda the mark of a truly memorable stage.

I thought MK9 was able to take ideas from past games and really freshen them up or reimagine them in beautiful new ways. Stages like The Belltower, Shang Tsung’s Garden, The Graveyard, Shang Tsung’s Throne Room, The Living Forest, The Temple, Jade’s Desert and The Tower felt incredibly atmospheric and did a great job of conveying a tone that MKX’s stages didn’t really do for me.

So while I love the eastern aesthetic and have associated it with MK since it’s Enter the Dragon style origins, I also like that mixed with a dark, foreboding, even mysterious style and I hope MK11 is able to capture those ideas and really convey their nature, going far above and beyond simply having MK looking stages as settings for fights and little more.

I pretty much feel the exact same way that you do. I want to know that I'm playing Mortal Kombat, which means more eastern styles of architecture and aesthetic combined with the dark and gritty feel that we've come to love from this franchise.

I also want more stages that have fatalities (stage brutalities are fine too but I don't include them in this sentiment) because I'm a total mark for them and because having more options at the FINISH HIM screen is almost never a bad thing (see: animalities).

For me personally I'd like to see the dark and foreboding atomosphere of MKII/MK:D

Just for the love of all that is holy NRS get rid of that shitty grey filter they placed over MKX it reminds me of Resident Evil 5 everything looks bland, muddy and overly gritty!
