I would preserve the MKT roster in it's entirely.

Obviously leaving out Human Smoke, Classic Sub-Zero, Shao Kahn, Goro; Motaro and Kintaro.

I'd like to see post-MK3 characters available as DLC alongside those left over from the MKT roster.

I would either just want all the MKT characters save for the ones already taken out, or I would be ok if this were the case:

Sheeva for Quan Chi

Jax for Bo Rai Cho.

I'll take the negative approach and say what trilogy characters I don't want:

There's a ton of post-MK4 characters I'd love to see in the game, but since we're restricted by timeline, my choices would be:

I don't really no Li Mei's age in MKDA, but she is an Outworld citizen, so her being in MK2 during her late teenage years would be perfectly viable.

Let's just keep the roster as is.

Well, character power levels are contingent; these are easily fixable things. I'd hate to see a character excluded for tier purposes (and anyway, Kabal was the worst offender).

It's a bit hard to say. While I'd want certain characters removed... it might be "wrong" to do so in this situation, you know? Like I really don't care if Sonya or Baraka are in this game, but I know they're going to be and it might seem wrong if they weren't. Still, for the same of contributing to the topic, I'll pick the 5 I like least and the 5 I like most:

Would anybody seriously miss Stryker, Rain, Chameleon, or even Sheeva that much?

Quan Chi is a must for this game. I consider him to be MK's best villain. He's just so insanely dark, twisted, scheming, maniacal, black-hearted, and lovably wicked. A villain that gleefully toys with the other warriors like playthings, manipulates heroes to fight against one another, and even screws over his friends and allies when the opportunities arise. I love him to pieces for it.

Other MK4 characters I wanna see: Sareena, Kenshi, Li Mei, and Fujin.

Frankly, I'm not a fan of any of the new characters. I can tolerate a few, but as for removing older characters for any of the trashy new ones... eh.

Maybe swap Rain for Nitara for more species diversity. I'd like Quan-Chi in too, for the sake of the story.

I would actually. MKA he was finally brought back and that was an amazing experience for me. I don't get all the negativity he receives. Granted his is a cop and it is a Tournament. But Johnny cage is no different in terms of being an odd character. Sure he's cool now because he's developed over the years but at first glance he wasn't all that appealing (MK1.) Not saying Stryker is but sometimes the odd balls make a presence known from time to time. Mokujin from Tekken is a great example of goofy yet enjoyable character Kuma, Bob, Rufus you catch my drift? Everyone has a favorite. He's always been mine for the Good Guys of MK. That will never change.

However. I do agree Stryker shouldn't be used for every MK game. But since he is one of the people who debuted in MK3. I think it's only fair he has a spot.

Sindel was upper mid tier in MK3, bottom tier in MKD, and absolutely UNUSABLE in MKA. How has she been overpowered?

As far as Jade goes, she too has never been in the high tier. She was very well balanced in UMK3 and MKD.

Stryker for Shinnok - Out of place shooter for demonic sorcerer fighter. Great counterpart for Raiden, and his hands from hell moves are epic.

Noob for Nitara - Well personally, I never liked Noob because while everybody in MKD got a total re-vamp in looks, Noob remained the same un-creative black dot he was in UMK3. Unlike Ermac and Reptile, Noob hasn't completely evolved into a character completely different from "just a palette-swap" of Scorpion and Sub-Zero. Nitara has a sick ass story and I just think MK needs a vampire character.

I'm not sure if I'd take more out for the likes of Havik, Hotaru and Kai. I kept Baraka in only because he does feel unique with his blades, but I'd kick him out in the next game already. Same thing goes for Reptile and Scorpion.

He's just a henchmen. He's got some cool gameplay stuff going, but I'd give the character a rest. Have Kung Lao kill him really early.

Chameleon
I don't even think he really counts as a proper character.

Jade
I feel that she's pretty redundant to the story. Her character has grown on me, and I think that she'd have potential in a proper sequel, but retroactively I think she can safely be cut.

Johnny Cage
It sucks that he's confirmed. Again, I'm killing some pretty popular characters, but I think these characters will gain more worth by being sat on the bench for at least one (more) installment. Cage just doesn't really add anything too epic to the story. I'd have him used as fodder in the tournament to put over another character as something vicious.

Khameleon
Let's just pretend that Reptile was the last of his people, alright?

Noob Saibot
I'd have the older Sub-Zero remain alive in this new saga. That way we can get rid of Noob for a little bit, and let that awesome character recharge his batteries. I don't imagine this will be a popular move, but fuck what you people want.

Rain
It's nothing against the guy, but I almost feel like he became *too* interesting in Armageddon. I'd prefer it if he were sort of swept under the rug so his "god" status doesn't need to be addressed. The original concept behind the character was filler anyway.

Sheeva
I'd replace her with an entirely new male Shokan, though. The story would probably be that without the Shokan falling out with Shao Kahn, some other Shokan steps up and becomes the new leader of Kahn's extermination squads. HOWEVER -- that would probably be the sub-boss of the game. That would leave a character slot open.

Shang Tsung
Don't get me wrong, I do love the character, but I think it would just change up the timeline a bit to have him canonically killed during the events of the first tournament.

Sindel
Hopefully Raiden finds a way to stop her ressurection, explaining why this story stills seems to take place in Outworld. I know she's a popular character, but I just think she crowds things up a bit too much.

Sonya
I'm sick of seeing Sonya and Jax in the same games as each other constantly, with so similar goals. As the story seems to start again in MK1 -- I'd have Sonya killed in the tournament somehow. Perhaps by Kano? That way we can get a Kano vs. Jax feud, which is still nothing groundbreaking, but changes things up a little.

Who I put in:

Bo' Rai Cho
It'd make perfect sense in the timeline. Granted, if he wins the tournament Outworld wins, but if this is post-MK1 they can work out ways around that. I'd cut back on the toilet humour with him, though. Not so much the jovial nature -- the master who seems harmless but can kick your ass is a charismatic role -- just lose the less subtle elements of the humour.

Daegon
He was leading the Red Dragon at the time. Come on, it would fit. I'm not sure when Taven was meant to awake, but I'd leave him out. Just have Daegon being this supernatural entity that's ruling the crime syndicate that runs everything in this new era.

Havik
He is a character that I really feel has potential to grow on audiences as a favourite. His story can be that he's just there fucking shit up for people.

Hotaru
Perhaps he can be chasing Havik across the realms, when he realises what sort of chaos is going on, and he has to decide which realm he wants to help? I really don't think he got the chance to really shine in Deception like he should have. Give him another shot.

Kenshi
One of the more stand-out characters of the newer Mortal Kombat era. I think he'd really help staff the roster a bit better.

Kira
She wouldn't have yet found the Black Dragon, but her storyline of being thrown into the chaotic world of Mortal Kombat could be interesting. She'd have that dark nature, and no one would really know what to make of her, but she'd technically be on "our" side. Just give her some of her own special moves. And hey -- that sort of gives you a new character to play as.

Li Mei
Sue me, I've developed a crush on this character. She'd only be a teenager at the point of this story, but I'd love to see her given the role of an Outworld protagonist. Especially considering Ermac will once again be a bad dude.

Mavado
I like me some Mavado. He never got the opportunity he deserved, and I'd like to see him ordered by Daegon to fight for Earthrealm, just so that there is something left for them to rule. Give him some new moves, and keep him away from horrible looking alts, and he should be fine.

Nitara
I was never a big fan of the character, but she'd be floating around the realms somewhere, trying to find the right chance to free Vaeternus. She could fill a gameplay hole that Sindel leaves.

Quan Chi
He's a popular character who would be floating around in the timeline anyway. His sorcery can fill the hole left by Shang Tsung.

Sareena
With Noob Saibot not in the story yet, Shinnok needs a spy. That role can be played by Sareena, who can do her torn between being good and evil thing in this game. She's a popular character, and deserves another chance. We could also use more females in it.
