For me it would be the inclusion of certain unrealistic fatalities, that were talked about on some gaming sites coverage of MK.

They talked about Johnny Cage ripping off your torso, from the rest of your body, with his bare hands. As well as where Mileena rips your head off easily, as if it were made of clay, or something. I would have nice to see them go all out and make all fatalities more realistic. The blood and character damage look a lot better than previous games though. Maybe they took some fans advice this time around

Also I would have liked to see the gameplay on a 3d plane. Not sure why they chose to go the 2d route. Did it have anything to do with them having a harder time balancing out the older 3d games?

Does anyone know if new characters will be in the game? If not, I feel thats one thing they should add.

While I need to see more of the game to judge it better, so far the attention to detail seems to be pretty good.

No gripes, but with the MK team you can never be 100%. Mortal Kombat could end up being a broken glitch fest for all we know.

MK characters have super powers. They actually do possess the physical strength to rip torsos off with their bare hands.

It's like saying Spider-Man shouldn't be able to climb walls, real people can't do that. They're not normal people. They're the chosen ones and such.

Well except Stryker, he never had powers or chi or anything. if he rips something off a person with his bare hands I will concede your point. But everyone else is supposed to be able to do that.
Anyway, my gripe is Ed's baffling "someone might become a cyberninja who wasn't before" comment. Does that actually happen or was he kidding or using a fake example to tease us? I don't want any new cyberninjas. I like the roster just the way it is.

Okay, I get what you're telling me. But I could also say something to the extent of, if they are so powerful why don't they one kill the other as soon as the fight starts? wink Which I know the reason to this being that if the game were like that, it wouldn't be any fun. So I understand a mindset of fantasy does have to be involved for all games.

I'm just saying, I don't really see the shock factor too much for the fatalities i mentioned. They wouldn't even have to be overly gory, just more "realistic".
But I guess that's just what I'd like to see personally.

I have one major concern... since australia still doesn't have an R-18 rating for games I'm probably going to have to import it and wait a couple of weeks longer than everyone else to play it :(

lol dont you dare jinx that. but i have a feeling the aust rating people are more concerned about 'real' circumstances like gta and cod, but then again they tried banning alien vs preditor so touch wood

The battle damage doesn't look that good yet. Maybe it's the bad film quality, but the visible-muscle tissue looks unnatural (using the term loosely). When we have clearer footage, perhaps my mind will change but right now, it's not working for me at all.

Not that I care about the fatalities much, but why all the postmortem violence? In most of the fatalities we've seen, the opponents are beyond dead half-way through. Not a complaint; I'm just naturally bothered by inefficiency.

I also thought this. Dont get me wrong i think they're sweet but they should be modified so the last part is the killer. eg instead of Kung laos hat cutting of the head first maybe they could make it so it cuts their legs off then the vertical slice. I do like scorpions head in half slice so that can stay

My only ONLY issue with this game at the moment is:

While I'm very glad they brought back what is likely the closest we'll ever get to a real old-school Reptile, the execution is ATROCIOUS. His character select screen picture looks like he's part-bird. I guess it's just that he's always been my personal preference (I may be in the minority, I'm not sure of public opinion of MK like you guys are)....but as someone who is old enough to remember MK1s release, I wish they'd have paid about 55% of the attention to Reptile that they do to Sub Zero and Scorpions detail. Enough with the fighting stance where he is hunched over...If Raiden is going back in time, then Reptile would be standing upright, in some legitimate form of ninja gear. Perhaps a finely tuned MK4 alternate attire, as I've seen on here.

If Reptile stood upright, and had a more traditional mask, this game would be perfect. Not diggin' the dino feet much either, but I could settle.

This game is pretty much exactly what I want...

no gripes. they are hitting all the right notes. half of us wanted a reboot, half a sequel.. well who would of thought we could have both? Jacked about this. The level of equality is further explored with the result of raiden being defeated. I never woulda picked Kahn ove Raiden in a fight.

Brings back tha tlevel of anybody could do anything. Not one big Onaga ripping shit in town. its a level playing field.

The only thing I want to see more of is kombo ability and demonstrations to understand it better. Reptiles forceball could move a little faster. I want to see some really long kombos shown in both 1v1 and with the tag in/out option incorperated.

this games is going to be an addiction of mine for a very long time.

If somebody bit chunks out of your face or punched you dead in the nuts during a fight to the death, wouldn't you want to do terrible, horrible things to them once you got the chance? Besides, all the MK fighters are really pissed off, either they're freaks among humans (Reptile, Baraka, Goro, Shang Tsung) or extremely sexually frustrated (Reptile again, Kung Lao, Liu Kang). They HAVE to kill to relieve that anger. On topic, my gripe is that while the fighting looks fun, fast, and all that, the walking looks kinda awkward. Fix that, Mr. Ed.

It's tough to find gripes with a game that looks this good with 9 months remaining until it comes out. I was blown away by a lot of what I saw and it really looks like the MK team is trying as best they can to give the fans what they want.

But ya can't please everyone, right? So here are my gripes:

1) No new characters... Yet: Ed kinda seems reluctant to talk about new characters, but the conflicting reports seem to be that there won't be any in this game. If that's the case, then that just sucks.

If you can alter the canon storyline, you can do so while having it cause new characters to join the fray.

And don't give me that garbage about how they need to focus ramking old characters. They seem to be doing just fine in that regard. Or how the new characters stunk. Out of the new characters in MK:DA through MK:A, I actually liked about half of them. Considering that I thought that most of the new additions to MK3 were medicore, that's not a bad average. I don't plan on liking every character in every game that I ever play, so the fact that there were some stinkers in the 3D games doesnt bother me in the least.

Oh, and the whole "we don't need new characters because we'll never see them again anyways" argument also holds no water with me. You know what? If a character's fun to use for this upcoming game, then why do I care NOW that they MIGHT not be in games LATER? I'll come to that whiny bridge when the time comes. There's absolutely no need to do it now.

Sure, I might not like that Kenshi, Mavado, Drahmin, Quan Chi, Fujin, Kai, Li Mei and a few others might not make it in to this game, but oh well, them's the breaks. That doesn't mean that I should never want new characters and I should only want to see MK3 stuff that I already know that I'm not a huge fan of. To me, and this is just for me and my opinion, that's just illogical.

So yeah, even two or three new characters would be great, but having none, if that's how it goes down, would be a shame.

2) Single player modes: Again, I know it's early, so I'm still holding out hope here, but SO FAR it seems like we're only going to see Arcade, Story, Vs, Tag, Online and I'd probably assume Training will be in there as well.

If that's the case, and there's no survival or time attack or kombo challenge modes or some other type of single player modes that enhance the longevity of the game beyond story and online, I'll be a little disappointed.

I mean, no offense to you all, but I just don't usually enjoy playing games online. So if you take out that component, I'm left with arcade and story. Once I beat the story...

See where I'm going here?

3) IGN: This is nothing against the game, this is IGN giving the fighting game of the show award to Marvel Vs Capcom 3. Look, I own MVC2 and it's a great game. MVC3, from everything I've seen looks like it basically jazzes up the visuals and subtracts characters from MVC2. Wow!! I get LESS! That's awesome!!!11!!1!ONE!!

I'm sure they're making improvements to the system and what not. I've seen a few gameplay videos and yeah, the super moves look sweet, but MK looks like it's taking many more drastic steps to change what they've been and the results, to me at least, look at lot better than what I've seen out of MVC3 so far. I went in to E3 knowing that I'd buy both games. Now? I'm a lot less sure about MVC3 and a lot more sure about MK.

I don't know if IGN simplyd idn't see enough of the game or what... I'm not calling them haters or anything, since they were all over the MK Rebirth story when it came out, but their coverage of MK at E3 was lackluster at best when compared to a LOT of other sites and to give the fighting game award to a game that looks a lot more like a retread in MVC3... I can't say that I agree.

That's really about all I have to complain about though. The new MK game looks phenomenal and it's a 1,000 times more than I could've hoped for going in to the show. Knowing that there's still nine freakin months to correct the two minor issues that I have (are they even really gripes at this point when there's so much dev time left? lol) gives me hope that this could very well be one of my all time favorite MK games.

Keep up the good work NR!!

2 gripes here on my end:

1. Sub Zero's stance. Why the fuck does he still look like he is standing like a pro wrestler?!! He needs his classic stance from MK1 and 2

2. The 9 month wait. I know its good for the game but FUUUUUUCK!!! I am ALREADY salivating at the dick for this shit. This is going to be excruciating.

Looking at the trailer again, I think I see why the walking animations look weird. I think it's mostly tap-tap dashing in those vids.

I wonder how it would look with a run button? Would that be too much?

Good point, some of the stances don't look right, like they're trying to hard.

I like the ones from the older 2D games even MK:DA. Even they looked odd somewhat but they seemed to fit the character well.

Always loved the ninjas from the 2d series.
