Anyone else think NRS is just gonna remaster MK9 in UE3 rather than be on UE4?

If they remaster MK9 from Unreal Engine 3 when making MK10 then they can sell to current gen and next gen but if they do MK10 on Unreal Engine 4 then it will be a whole different ballgame.

So remastered MK9 or brand new MK10.

MK10 on previous-gen would be a bad thing. I really want the next game to be as graphically advanced as possible (and graphics matter; I do not care what anyone says).

The game comes in in a year. There's really no excuse for those who can't afford to upgrade.

From a financial point of view making it for current gen as well as next gen would sell more. Also they'll make DLC and selling DLC on multi-platforms would bring in more $$$$$$$$ vs just next gen.

I think that would be true if they released the game right now. I don't think that would be the case in 2015. I'd say it's more to their benefit to make the game's presentation as amazing as possible to sell more copies. That should compensate for any lost revenue on the previous-gen demographic. I'd also say that with NRS's bad track record with previous-gen servers would be enough to steer them to current-gen only production.

But even if it doesn't, I'm cheering for the route that's going to yield a better game. Even if they did reap in more money via previous-gen DLC, it's not like I'm going to see a dime of that.

Current gen: UE3
Next gen: UE4

I think if it's current gen they'll tweak the current system they have with it. Minor improvements and polishes, but overall still very familiar game.

If it's next gen I have no doubt they'll go UE4 and push the bounderies of their capabilities. I absolutely agree with Temp, I firmly believe MK should go next gen only. Killer Instinct looks fantastic, imagine what MK would look like with a next gen makeover. Next gen is easier to develop for with added horsepower, and overall performs better than current gen.

Killer Instinct does look phenomenal. I can only imagine those lighting effects in something like the elder gods arena. Also, (and maybe this has changed over the course of time) isn't the PS3 notoriously hard to develop for? In the scenario of programming for four different consoles, that's quite a thorn in the side of NRS.

I am a little worried about 1080p vs 720/900. We're almost six months into new generation, and it doesn't appear we're any closer to the 1080 standard.

This is why I believe we should've waited at least one more year for next gen release. PC can now support 4K graphics. So we have to wait until PS5 and Xbox Two for true next gen. 4K TV's should be a thing around 2015. 8K would be a thing for 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Fifa World Cup 2014. I'm guessing console gamers are gonna draw the short stick again and get 4K for PS5 and Xbox Two when we should've got 4K for PS4 and Xbox One. PC is gonna get 8K when 4K is industry standard for console gamers. One more year if they had delayed the PS4 and Xbox One we probably would've got 4K and on par with PC but console is always two steps behind PC.

Yeah the Cell Processor makes development a bit more difficult. Devs have got used to it and have been able to still crank out awesome stuff. But next gen wouldn't have that problem in the first place.
