So, watching and reading about the new MK, seeing many updated backgrounds and characters... and seeing the new fatalities from E3, I'm wondering... is this like a reboot of the original 3? Even Ed Boon said that the it'll return to it's 2D style like the 3 original. Mileena and Kung Lao's fatalities are remade from Deception and Shaolin Monks... same goes for Nightwolf's, as far as the demo showed. As for the characters, there are 26 boxes... and if you count EVERY character from 1-3... wait, I counted and THERE are 26... Motaro is 27. All the backgrounds, too. I mean, Throne Room, Pit 2, Khan's Arena, and backgrounds the look A LOT like The Roof and The Bridge? Everything just seems to come together as a huge reboot and I love it! I think this is just a rumor, but Dan Forden will return as the music composer? How amazing would that be? Oh, I hope they have alternate costumes again.

Anyways, is there is a thread about this already, please lock it. If not, discuss!

What is supposedly happening in this story is that it picks up right where Armageddon left of and all we know is that Raiden and Shao Kahn were the last two standing from that, Raiden gets pummeled by Kahn and before he gets wipe out he sends a message to his past self from the MK1 Era right before the first tournament.

So I would think this game plays out the same way the first three games do, but the events could be switched around. Like imagine if Liu Kang didn't win the first tournament? Or what if Sub-Zero was never killed by Scorpion? These are things that I suspect may happen and it's exciting to speculate and see how everything plays out.
