Special Forces, everytime I think of that game I get pissed off. What it COULD'VE been......the info that could've been revealed and stuff and now it seems it's lost forever.

Kano - I like how he's such a decisive character. He may not win alot of fights, but he uses his mind to get what he wants. He set up alot of people. That's where his true strength lies. A true hardened criminal. Too bad this is most likely his last game.

Jarek - Dunno why, but his reinvention in MKA makes me wonder more about him. But he WAS just a Kano pallette swap until now. But I think through him, we could learn more about the Black Dragon. Hopefully his bio reveals such info.

Kabal - Another good 'un. Cool to see how he's reinventing the gang. Plus I like the idea of a good guy turning evil (instead of the other way around).

As for KObra and Kira........meh. I don't like or hate them.

Dont believe Jarek was a plattlete swap at all, he was introduced in MK4 where kano made no appearance and jarek had a completely different appearance than he did. I like everyone in the black dragon except kobra because hes cheap.

Jarek is not a palette swap of Kano. The only things he has are the cannonball (which i think he doesn't have anymore on MK:A) and the eye laser fatality. Jarek seems to be better in MK:A but I have trouble playing him.

As for Kabal, he's my favourtie character in MK. He the best In MK3, he's a killer in MK:D. He's got the funniest fatalities and has a cool look about him. He need to get rid of that pice of crap Mavado. After that I suppose it'll be Sonya or even Jax storyline wise.

Kano is alright. I like his Aussie accent lol. Or is Midway doing it on purpose. Sonya should have better to do than chase Kano from MK1 to 7.

Kira is better in MK:A. I want to see her bio. I don't want her turning on the Black Dragon. (She wears too much red, giving me a feeling she'll join Mavado at some point)

Kobra - I don't pay much attention to him. He needs to stop looking like Ken and get more involed storywise, rather than just "killing anything".

I really admire how Jarek's been reinvented.....it's actually made him an interesting character to me. I dunno why.

Kano.....I've been thinking lately of how much I'll miss him, since I really think this'll be his last game. I really admire that they gave him a story outside of Sonya chasing him.....he's struggling to survive in a bowl full of big fish. He shows that human beings are just as capable of doing ultra dirty shit as warlords and sorcerers are. A cool villain.

And since Kobra's clearly nothing but a punk, I'd like to see real hardened cons like Kano or Jarek slaughter his ass, haha.

Jarek has balls. Kano whimpered under Kahn.....but Jarek actually stood up to Shinnok, siding with his enemies. Gotta admire that. Makes me wonder if the MK Team might be thinking of taking him down the path of redemption. That seems unlikely, though. Given how last we saw, he was looking to restart the Black Dragon clan even after Shinnok went out. Still, the bios have already proven that they're not adhering to how the endings were set.

Kabal......he hasn't become a villain per se. He's a convert to Chaos, Havik is gonna use his Black Dragon to make Earth fall.....Kira even says in her bio they're gonna cause the downfall of civilization. Kabal is chasing his beliefs, twisted as they are - he's now more of the perspective that every man should be allowed to wander as he pleases and not conform to society's rules.

I actually like Kira now that I think of it, she's a fresh female - with the red hair. And she's cold. Wonder where she'll be at.

Yeah, Kobra is pretty much the only Black Dragon I could do without. Hope he dies.

I wonder about the "lost" black dragons - No Face, Tasia, and Tremor. Seemed interesting. I like the Black Dragon because they add a "real world" aspect to Mortal Kombat.

Black Dragon is weak, all the peopel in it have no real impact in MK at all. only thing they can say is kano is an orignal but we can all agree, kano prob wont even be in the next game and kobra is nothing more then a rip off ken in street fighter

If anyone thinks that Kobra is a ken-ripoff, than he is horrendously wrong. If anything, he might be considered a hmage to the Karate Kid Cobra Kai, but a ripoff? Thats a sad excuse.

Since my disdain for Jarek and Kabal, the future I can only see with Kira and Kobra. Both have enough space to work with and evolve.

There was also a lot that MK:A could have explained about the Black Dragon, but it seemed to lean more toward the Red Dragon. I have always thought of the Black Dragon possibly the world's most powerful organization since American special forces agents take the time to chase them across the world. The MK comic did a good job of hyping Kano up to be a huge threat as well.

Kano - To me he's a born leader, but he had misplaced his talents for years and led the group in heists and other crimes. He later shows that he has the ability to lead a large army and conquer with well-placed, merciless tactics.

Kabal - He's the only character in the series to start off evil and aligned with a clan, turn good and leave said clan, then turn evil again and rebuild and reinvent his former clan.

Jarek – He reminds me of Kano’s missing half. He has the courage to stand against what Kano would run from. Forces of immense power don’t seem to shake him, but he also doesn’t show the leadership skills that Kano possesses. He wouldn’t run from Kahn’s forces, but he probably wouldn’t be able to lead his own forces into a victorious battle.

Kira – She seems to show a bit of Jarek’s personality. She doesn’t back down. She’s a fresh addition to the clan, and hopefully she’ll help it grow.

Kobra – The MK team hasn’t really touched upon Kobra too much. He seems to show some of Kano’s traits in Kira’s MK:A ending. I don’t think he should be killed off just yet.

The REAL Black Dragon - is there any indication that they're still around? From my googling, it seems they were disbanded after World War II. So, if they were still here, what would they be doing? How could they be operating?

never really got into the black dragon / red dragon thing. Not to sat it was bad, i just didn't like the characters. I hate kano, his story was imo was always boring, but his black dragon ball special was cool as was his fatality. I sort of like Mavado, i like his hookswords. I just am not a fan of his imo uninspired specials, and i think his fatality in MKDA was dumb.

Now, i do like Jarek. I always liked him, one of my fav new characters in MK4. I really like his weapon in MKA, the kickaxe. Sure, in MK4 he was a obvious ripoff in MK4, but he was still cool. In MKA he was muched imporoved, and his specials are cool.

The Black Dragon should be given more credit than it is given by MK fans, IMO. It's been around for the longest and is the most reinvented faction in the MK series. Plus, it gives my girl Sonya some asses to kick

KANO: My personal favorite of the Black Dragon, not only because he's the "top dog" of the organization, but because every other Black Dragon members have been either directly or indirectly based off of Kano. Also, Kano is unlike any other MK character: he doesn't rely on strength alone to survive and defeat his enemies. He does it through his cunning ways and his background manipulation, and lets not forget: betrayl. This guy has stabbed more people on the back than a high school cheerleader.

KABAL: Having Kabal switch sides was a very interesting change in his storyline. He went from assisting Sonya (if I'm not mistaken) to reviving the organization she despised. I started admiring Kabal even more when he reappred in MK: Deception. He seemed like he wanted to take over Kano's position in the Black Dragon, what with the recruiting of new members. Also, his ending made me just go at his character: killing the person who stood by him throughout the story in order to take over his achievement. Of course, I'm talking about Havik and Onaga's heart.

JAREK: Yes, he was MK4's answer to a Sonya enemy, since she had "killed" Kano in the MK3. I never thought much of him, but his remade version in MKA definitely gave him big points in my eyes. Seeing him with his own moves made him a much more "separate" character, which was a welcome change.

KOBRA: Even though a lot of people think he's just a rip-off or whomever (Ken or Karate Kid or w/e), I actually think he's interesting for one main reason: his involvement with Kira. I think if Kobra had just been thrown into the MK: Deception mix as Kabal's recruit, he would have been weaker in character than he is now. But he seems to have a connection with Kira from what we can tell in his Armageddon ending, and ithat could definitely be explored further to make him 100X more intriguing of a character.

KIRA: I still think they should have just put Sonya in MK: Deception instead of transfering her moves to a redhead and calling it a new character, but that's just me. I would have liked Kira a lot more if she wouldn't have been to Sonya what Jarek was to Kano in MK4. I dislike it when the MK team does this, but again, Kira gets points for her interesting relationship with Kobra.

I definitely "respect" the Black Dragon as an MK faction - they've been kind of set aside ever since the Red Dragon emerged, and then the Tekunin on top of that. But we should remember that they were the original bad-ass faction of MK, and provided us with many of the villains today whom we "love-to-hate".

KANO I first played mk1 on game gear, which only had 6 playable characters, omitting kano, so when i played mega drive mk1 kano was a real discovery. in mka konquest i like the idea of red dragon experimenting on him. kano is like a cockroach, indestructable!

JAREK Reading this thread and having never been a jarek fan (i'd have prefered to just have kano in mk4) it has made me realise plot wise if not play wise jarek is different in that he stood up to a god and sided with his enemies to do so... i don't think kano would ever do that, he'd jusr run off to another realm where he could get a better deal. It sounds to me like jarek could've ended up a good guy after mk4 if special forces had gone easy on him. i hated the fact in mk4 jax, sonya and jarek all had virtually the same ending. a lot of people think jarek's recent bio has been a bit brief, but what more could be done with the character?

KIRA: I think she has a cool story- dressing as a man, smuggling weapons, and i like her stance in mka, standing on one leg, she looks amazing. i have no issue with the 'she's just kano/sonya' thing- so now you can be a character with both their skills at once- hows that bad? its not like you could BE kano and sonya at same time before

KABAL i love kabal and love his story. didn't like him in mk3 (too silly( but in mkd he's well hard and the plot is great

I'm guessing the Special Forces stuffed him up. They have too many enemies = Taven + Black Dragon + Special Forces + Kenshi + Rain? + Possibly Reptile?

For the record, Taven also bitched up Kabal and HIS entire Black Dragon by himself....so I don't think that should be considered a measuring stick.

Meanwhile, Kano gets his ass handed to him on a semi-regular basis. Sonya...Li Mei...possibly Kitana....and probably Mavado. Mavado...who's also beaten Sonya, Jax, Kabal, and Kenshi already.

I think despite Taven owning the entire Red Dragon, I think the clan's track record is still better than the Black Dragon's.
