Who else is loving this? I've alwyas loved this little "feature" they put in. In MKD the Krypt was fun because of the NPCs running around, while the Dark Prison was great for the same reason (getting inside the cages with Noob Smoke was pretty cool). Even in other games it was great seeing the unplayable characters I loved so much popping out. So far we have

-Kira and Li Mei (Shao kahn's Arena, these may change like in the Pit)
-Daegon/Reiko/Kenshi (The Pit, there may be more)
-Rain and meat (church stage)

Granted it's not as fun as controlling them, but it's great because at least they acknowledge they existed, which could've become a problem with the whole enlightened Raiden thing. So do you guys love this as much as I do, and will there be any more minor cameos?

I honestly don't feel like seeing those lame characters anywhere in the game. I don't wanna look in the back and see Kira chained or two people fighting on the bridge. If it was still Blaze and Hornbuckle fighting would be better since it's how it was back in MK2. Since this is a prequel/reboot the characters we see all chained and tied shouldn't exist yet or have a place in this game. They should just have random prisoners and people in the back.

Pretty much the way I feel. It's good to know that even if your character is gone, s/he is not forgotten.

I really hated the prison stage in MK Deception. Loathed it. I don't care for cameos in this way. Unlike a lot of people, I actually like most MK4 and on characters and feel they're generally better than some of the crap from the first three games. I don't really like to see them used in non-canon ways (such as Kira being in Outworld at all, Li Mei probably should be like 12 or something while this game is going on).

It doesn't work for me where it doesn't make sense. I'd prefer cameos to be strictly in the story mode.

I also appreciate the newer games MK4 and up. There are some interesting characters and others we could do without FOREVER...Hsu hao! However, I think that there are better ways to keep NPCs in canon without cameos.

Are you serious? I mean i guess everyone is entitled to their opinion but old school characters from the first three win against new generation anytime. The only characters that debuted from MK4 and on that i think are worth keeping are Quan Chi, Shinnok and Kenshi. Maybe Fujin nd Reiko if they give him more of his own identity instead of just being one of Shao Kahn's generals who wants to be him

They bother me because it doesn't make sense. What the hell is Kira doing in Outworld? How did she get there?

Non-canon jokey shit drives me insane. It better be Sonya/Kano and Blaze/Hornbuckle in the finished game. Or at least someone who makes sense being there storywise, if Sonya and Kano never get captured this time.

Onaga and Shinnok should make cameos in the Living Forrest Stage.

I agree. In fact, i ́d prefer to have Sonya and Kano in the backgrounds even when you play them (Like Cyrax in the desert), for nostalgia value rather than random characters... and like u said... wtf would Kira be doing in outworld!?!?

or you know... if the programmers wheren ́t so lazy, you could have Kano and Sonya tied up and when you play them they are not in the BG anymore (they havent bothered with that since Kahn ́s arena way back when)

I would not want to see a rehearsing of MK2, so I am all for reinventing the stuff. Also, I am pretty much fed up with classic characters.

Canon-wise? This game is not a reboot. This might happen if Raiden's plan o invoking a timely prevention involves those, who were introduced in later games. Think about it, every character is an expcetional combatant who triggers Armageddon.

Now, wouldn't it make sense to involve - get rid - manipulate those people into a more favourable outcome? Kira for all we know may have been sent prematurely into Outworld, and thus to her death. Or Frost (?) lying in the Pit bottom dead.

Now what that could possibly mean? Raiden's ruthless incarnation manipulating all sides to prematurely kill themselves off?

I'm actually down with a lot of the 3D-era-cters, and I hate so see some of them go.

I think it's Awesome what they're doing with character cameos! I LOVE seeing Kira and Li Mei in the arena. It's perfect and has that Conan/Frazetta feel that really makes it exciting for me.

It's just another way to make the backgrounds more entertaining and shouldn't be taken so seriously.

And the next cameo should be Hsu Hao and Stryker being eaten by horrible mk monsters! wow glasses

The only explanation I can assume of having Kira and Li Mei in Shao Kahn's Arena is because they put them as a representation of Kano and Sonya. Kira being similar to Kano and Li Mei to Sonya(?); if that makes sense.
