Do sins in the realms all originate from Shinnok (That is, is Shinnok Satan of MK)?

... Because that's how I believe it should be, considering MK universe has its own pantheon of deities which parallel the deities from real life religions. That said: if Shinnok has his closest "non-fictional" equivalent in Satan (as Raiden, e.g., has in Thor, Zeus, Indra, etc.), wouldn't that give him all the roles that Satan has?

Plus, now that he vanquished Lucifer and claimed his position as the ruler of hell, there is one more reason why he should be able to have control over the energies of wickedness in the Universe, even though he might not be able to spring himself from the Netherealm unless he obtains special prerequisites (eliminating Shao Kahn and reclaiming his amulet).

Considering Shinnok wasn't the first ruler of the Netherrealm, it's kind of hard to say that wickedness began with him. He was never a Demon, only an immortal being of unfathomable power, just like the other gods (thus a Fallen Elder God). He only took control of the Netherrealm by force, and maybe his being there for eons has changed his abilities, but it's hard to look at him as being the equivalent of the Devil when even in real polytheism religions, being a God of the Underworld doesn't mean the God is evil incarnate. Look up the stories of Hades and Zeus, and you'll see who's done more evil acts.

To be honest, as all powerful as Shinnok is... I don't think he has the pure malevolence required to be considered "MK's Satan"...

I personally consider Quan Chi to be a more eligible character for that title. Quan Chi basically has a hand in EVERYTHING on EVERY level within the MK Universe... more-so than Shinnok.

Shinnok might be in charge, but Quan Chi's doing all his dirty work.

Apologies for resurrecting a dead thread.

I don't think there's any one being who can be held responsible for all the evil in the realms; the absolute closest would have to be the One Being itself, but it's more similar to Ymir, and its corruptions of Onaga and Shao Kahn are purely so that it can resurrect itself for its rematch versus the Elder Gods. Shinnok isn't the source of all evil, nor does he control all evil. It seems that evil and good are simply brute facts of the realms. They don't exist for one reason or another; they just are, and people wind up in one or the other or neither based on their own decisions in life.
