Hi, as you can see I'm new at the forum. Although I was a guest of mortalkombatonline.com for so long I decided to finally become an official member because I saw the thread with the huge spoilers which are the leaked info (mainly of story mode). And since I'm not happy (and I understand many of you may disagree with my opinion, sorry for not sharing the same brain cells) I'm thinking in sending through twitter a suggestion to Ed where I suggest that he should change a few things (mostly concerning story mode). But I don't want this message to represent my voice only but yes the voice of all people who are unpleasant with the outcome of story mode. So I will post my message here and suggestions are welcomed. If you feel like I should change something in the message post and I change/add it before sending the message to Ed Boon, thanks.
My message:
"Ed I must say until now I was completely hyped about this game. So far it seemed it was the game your team needed to deliver us to redeem yourselves for the last 3 games (MK DA- A). But the only reason why the game looked so amazing was because you kept the worst parts under grasps it seems! With the info within the demo getting leaked, info regarding the “Epic” story you promised us was revealed! I’m fine about Ermac being King Jerod now and It is now known that the person who didn’t turn into a cyborg is Smoke (and honestly I’m glad) and that the person turned into Cyborg is young Sub-Zero (honestly I don’t mind, it brings something different into the series and Noob Saibot can always replace Sub-Zero as the ice Ninja not totally but at least part of it, not forgetting Noob Saibot has fans as well, so putting his Armageddon ending to use would be a good option also he would be a great Lin Kuei grandmaster having skills compromised of both Ice and shadow, or perhaps an improved Frost could be that replacement if she doesn’t turn evil this time). What really disappoint me is to know that Kitana, Kung Lao and Nightwolf (my favorite character) will die. Did you learn nothing from Liu Kang and Raiden? Will you bring them as zombies as well? Or will you bring them as dark versions of their former selves like you did with Raiden in Deception? When will you learn that killing established characters in fighting games don’t work well when working with the canon of the story (Just look into another fighting games and tell me if they did the same, characters don’t die in fighting games, they go missing or are replaced by successors of very similar appearance)?! So the goal of the storyline was Raiden to somehow avoid Armageddon. This is not avoiding Armageddon is making it worse!!! The story seems random and written in rush! I can’t believe, you, being the game main producer approved this John Vogel story! Raiden no longer seems the respected and wised character he once was! How come instead of preventing Armageddon he made even worse?! In the original timeline nobody died if I recall. No Motaro in the story, not even a small cameo! We just come to know through other character that he was killed by Raiden. This was your chance to redeem yourself for bringing Motaro back in Armageddon with two legs only! I don’t believe you could bring back Shang Tsung morphing ability (when in the past you said it was impossible) and not Motaro. Was him that hard of a challenge to be included that you had to excuse it with him being killed?! Common you are a game producer! Nothing should be impossible to accomplish as long you try hard! About Rain I accept you chose to add him through DLC but at least he could have made some kind of cameo in the storyline! Even Quan Chi who wasn’t around in the original timeline had more screen time then what he was supposed to have! We already know you love Quan Chi a lot but, what about Rain?! Where is the love?! And where is the character with red boots you shown us a small glimpse back in September that you would revealed in turn for voting in Shao Kahn and making him win? Also is the prize for beating the 300th challenge of the Challenge tower an almost nude costume for Mileena?! Is that what a prize beyond imagination means to you?! If wasn’t bad enough all the ladies of the roster being almost Nude you reward us with another revealing costume?! Is that the idea you have of your fans, a bunch of perverts who spend money in games just to see semi-nude fictional female characters?! I was expecting don’t know... A character or something like that. I’m sure female players (yes they exist) will find this game overrated of nudity. Ed if you have any respect for the fans who supported your products for so many long please don’t Ignore this feedback that I did with the help of many other users who gathered in the forums of mortalkombatonline.com. We never abandoned Mortal Kombat and if you want WB to not regret for having put faith in you please don’t ignore this feedback like sometimes you do. For a roster of 26 characters the story mode could have more chapters. I come this way to ask of you, if you don’t have much more time until the release date to develop further the game (which I’m sure you don’t). Please consider delivering through DLC periodically more chapters. The story felt incomplete and some characters didn’t have the screen time they deserved. Plus make Raiden to redeem himself in the story mode by changing some events like saving Kitana, Nightwolf and Kung Lao somehow from a doomed fate. Rain making a cameo(s) and Motaro being alive and making cameos as well (being mistaken by another centaur that was actually the one killed by Raiden). Thank you. If you have this in consideration I will still purchase your game. If not well I wait for the next one and can only hope it will be flawless. Take Care."

Well, first off, with all due respect, you're responding to a big wall of text with a big wall of text. Secondly, it's a bit harshly worded, IMO. If you really want to drive a point home, you gotta sound level-headed and provide valid arguments for why you dislike something. You sound a bit angry here, to say the least. Then, minor things like spelling errors and a run-on parenthesis. Finally, nothing is getting changed this late in the game. It's pretty much finished, and there is zero hope that anything in story mode will be reconsidered. Might as well shrug it off, bud.

I appreciate the feedback. Regarding the spelling errors I can justify it by saying that I'm Portuguese so I don't write English in a daily basis to perfect it. I'm not angry if that is what I made it look my bad. I'm disappointed and that's it, no hard feelings here. Also like I said in my statement I’m aware that the game is already close to the delivery date thus my proposal of delivering on a later date more chapters (through DLC) to increase the story mode thus changing some unfortunate events. I would like to know how you guys would address Ed Boon regarding this subject since I’m not good enough to provide formal texts.
All I can say is, wait until you've actually PLAYED through the whole story with each character when you get the finished version of the game. There are going to be some things that may have changed when we get the final copy. Besides, I think it's good that some characters are killed, it gives NRS room to expand with newer characters, which, if designed and implemented properly could be better than the ones killed. I know that might be hard to believe for some people, but still. Another way I think of this game, is that it's merely an alternate timeline, so it's canon but only within it's own universe. Such as the several versions of Earth in MARVEL Comics, e.g. Earth-616, Marvel Zombies. By the sounds of the endings, they're going to go a different direction with the next MK anyway, so chill.

Y'know what's nice about comics, though?
When they make an alt universe, they don't stop making the first one. They publish multiple ones at the same time so fans of the first still get to follow the characters they're attached to.

Not saying you are lying but where in the text file does it say that Kitana, Kung Lao, and Nightwolf die?
And in regards to giving people more screen time would be a monumental task. The roster is huge and giving everyone the same amount of attention as Raiden would have took a long time. It's a fighting game after all and some character's stories will be thrown by the wayside either to be ignored or revisited in later installments.
Yeah, Motaro should have gotten some kind of cameo but they do reference him and talk about the Centaurs. Motaro simply takes too much work compared to the other fighters and I'd rather they spend the time it takes to work on him on something else in the game.
Yeah, the prize for End Game does look pretty weak unless there's also a price for completing all 300 Challenges.

To subxzero: Killing an established character never is a good idea!!! They could simply put them in hiatus like Kunimitsu (Tekken), Hwang (Soul Calibur) or Lee (Street Fighter) for example.
Don't you see the mess they came with when they killed Liu Kang and Raiden and then brought them back since they realized how strong those characters fanbase still was?
Those characters are iconic (Well Nightwolf perhaps not) it should be illegal to kill them! I don't understand why if they have to kill characters, why the iconic ones?! Iconic characters equals bigger fanbase right?!
If they have to kill characters why not those plastic characters named Kira, Kobra and characters who weren't developed by John Tobias and lack of Je ne sais quoi?! And still haunt this "reboot" as cameos. I wouldn’t mind an eradication of characters of MK DA-A (only Li Mei, Ashrah, Sareena, Kenshi, Bo Rai Cho and Onaga should be spared and perhaps Frost because dunno why there is something deep inside me that like her even when she sucks for a female ninja).
Although in a fighting game characters should not be killed at all! (Unless the sequels take place in a distant future and all the established characters died of illness or age).
They should go missing, be kept in hiatus or replaced by successors of similar appearance (like Armor King of T5 who replaced the one from T2 for example).
They don’t need to kill established characters in order to introduce new ones. In case the new ones suck (which is what I fear since so far they have failed in delivering outstanding new characters) the established ones at least are there for our satisfaction.
Just look how Harada (Tekken producer) managed to deliver his fans in T6 most of the cast of previous Tekken games and still introducing great characters.

I hope Boon skips your wall of text. That shit is tedious to read. Give the guy a break.

I understand this, but did you read the second half of my post properly? I suggested that this game is perhaps like an alternate universe, like in comics. As Razor stated, it is better when fans can keep up with each different universe. Perhaps this is something that will be implemented in the future? Who knows where they're going to go with the next game. You could have say, in the next game, different outcomes within the storyline that change the outcome of characters, but each storyline is 'canon', just canon within their respective universes.

I haven't read any of the bio's/intro's/endings of any character and I don't plan on doing so untill the game is released. I mean really, how fuckin hard is it to just NOT read them? Its pretty easy.

It's called Mortal Kombat.
I'd say death is to be expected.

Funny how people say MK means DEATH and WAR blablabla but how many characters who died had actually remain dead?! Name just one!
For the sake of what is reasonable and avoiding stupids retcons to justify these named characters comeback I rather not have them killed at all. Period. It's a fighting game after all. Those characters fanbase will always demand them to return.

As a story, it makes sense for people to die in war. As a fighting game, it's better to take the Tekken route and keep every single fighter you introduce because people, reasonably, spend hours learning, mastering, using, and perfecting certain characters and it always suck to learn a character in and out only for them to not show up in the next game.
For example, I am a really good Sub-Zero player. I have been since MK1. I know how to do an iceball in my sleep. If a MK game comes out without Sub-Zero (or *cough* a version of Sub-Zero that doesn't play like original Sub-Zero), I won't get to use the character I've always played with best, spent the time to learn, and whose moves I know reflexively.
So if a certain popular character isn't in a game, that always sucks for the many people that enjoyed playing as him or her. You can possibly include someone new that plays like them (MK4's Jarek, Street Fighter's Sean), but that rarely goes over well with fans of the original character.
It's a game first and foremost, and it only makes sense to build from the roster you create and refine their moves rather than ditching them, starting all over, introducing new characters, and substituting new blood in when the original characters were working just fine before.
... I mean, is there ANYONE out there going "I don't want Kitana in the next game" or "I want Sub-Zero in the next game... but COMPLETELY change his moves" or "Introduce a new character... but give them Sonya and Jax's moves combined"?
