I played in arcades, but I was born in 1990 so I was pretty much on the end tail of the dieing arcade scene. But I can see your point, it could be nice to have a social element to the game besides ripping people's heads off. I'll certainly give it a shot.

After the death of arcades in the U.S. and stuff, this is the best alternative and the closest you can get to recapturing that nostalgic feeling, that's why many people are excited about, but to each their own.
Edit:Plus as Temp said, it's practical to give people something to do while they wait for their matches

This seems like a silly novelty to me, I don't really understand why people are so pumped about it. Just my 2 cents

Same here, I'm a 1990 baby too haha. We majorly missed out on that for sure, I remember playing MK4 when I was 8 at my local Tilts N' Tumbles(which is sadly now closed). I just realized how old I sound now haha.

You don't wanna know what I read the first time I skimmed past that.
Anyway, I'm a fan of recreating the arcade experience. I don't play online that much, maybe this will encourage it. I just hope the racial slurs and threats of rape to members of my family is kept to a minimum.
...that's one of the things I miss about the arcades, you we're instantly held accountable for the shit you said.

Give it up for people born in 1990!!!!
Legally drinking come August.
I....just.....really don't want my XBL avatar in the mix. I'll be using the MK bobbleheads if given the option.

1987 baby here. My local laser tag place still had a MK1 cabinet through the late 90s, and it was awesome. I'm psyched for this mode.

Re: Smokey
You never know; they could pull a Smoke vs. Sheeva fight out of their ass on Monday, the day before. Probably not, but hey, stranger things.
Maybe they planned for something, and the leaks upon leaks upon leaks upon still moar leaks caused them to go "eh, fuck it".
Or, they really wanted him to be a big surprise the fans would see for themselves. Betting that's a likely scenario.
Anyway:
D'awwww, issums iz a chibi Shmoke. :3

So I take it that Stryker's grenade toss is actually a win pose and not a fatality?

You would be correct. Everyone seems to have thought it was a fatality. We were all wrong lol.
Stryker gets covered in blood instead of oil during his win pose after he beats Sektor...
My question: those 2 players that are currently fighting, how will the screen look for them, normal or theater-like? I think those chibi characters and their actions could be distracting while fighting...

ow wowwow, this looks awesome! Can't wait to try it out. It really feels like you are in the arcade and other players are watching you play, adds an element of "perform under pressure" to the situation.

Awesome Stryker winpose is awesome.
Anyway, '89 baby here. Not much of a drinker, I'm afraid, haha.
