I kinda like that Mileena's eyes are different from Kitana's, but the bright yellow might be too much. It should be subtle, something you'd only notice up close so they can still pass for twins.

For instance, when I draw Mileena, I start out giving her brown eyes like Kitana's, but then I add a yellow tint to them, not so they're demonic, but so they look sorta sickly or diseased. Less "Tarkatan" and more just "there's something wrong with me".

I've never really liked that Tarkatans have yellow eyes now anyway. They were red in MK2, I prefer that.

But yeah, I'd prefer if his eyes were all black like in MK2. It looks much cooler than his yellow eyes and looks more beastial and demonic.

Anyways, back on topic.
In the original storyline, Mileena just had the mouth of a Tarkatan, not the eyes, so why the change? I think her eyes look cool, however, it is easy to tell the difference between the two with those eyes. When Mileena imposes as Kitana, people would quickly recognize her due to her eyes, even when wearing a veil to cover her mouth.
A simple illusion spell could make her eyes appear like Kitana's though, so I guess it is not that much of a problem. But I liked the fact that when Kitana and Mileena wore their assassin-outfits, the only way to tell them apart was the colour of their clothes.

Can Mileena do magic? I mean I know she can teleport but is she capable of doing a spell or something like that? I'd imagine it'd be annoying to have to go find someone to do it for her all the time.

It is pretty common for Edenians to make use of magic in their everyday life from what I understand of the MK lore. However, if Mileena can't make such a minor spell herself, I am sure Onaga whom she serves in MKD would be able to make such a spell on her when she imposes as Kitana.

In the game, like those pics there, his eyes always look hidden in shadow. They're black because you can't even see them.

I'm talking about the art John Tobias would draw, like in the official comic or the strategy guides. He always drew Baraka with beady red eyes.

I like to draw them black with a glossy red shine, personally. Almost Gambit-like.
Anyway, back to Mileena. I think the thing with the eyes is...the story never strictly says "only her mouth is Tarkatan", that was just the graphics of the day. And she does have weird cat-like pupils out of nowhere in the old MK2 ending. Storywise, it just says she's a flawed clone. I don't think it hurts to add a bit of...let's call it "genetic corruption" to other parts besides the teeth, so long as it's subtle and she's not, like, sporting blades out of her arms or anything. And whatever they decide she should look like, the important thing is, now that they have the tech to depict any idea fully fleshed out, they should stick to it concretely from then on and be consistent in future games. Like I'm tired of Baraka having little spikes on the back of his head in one game, but not in the next, and things like that. Decide on a biology and stick to it.
And I don't think she needed any magic disguise to fool the Edenians in Deception. They just took her at her word because everyone thought Mileena's been dead for years and nobody even suspected it could be her, and she didn't even spend much time leading them and letting them look at her, she almost immediately put Bo' Rai Cho in charge and sent him and the army to what she thought would be a suicide run against the Tarkatans.
Though, going back to that MK2 ending where her eyes are different all of a sudden, maybe there was meant to be a bit of a metamorphosis going on when she lifts the veil? Or...maybe it's just a bad picture.

I think Mileena should have black eyes but not necessarily their shape or expression too similar to Kitana, only when she does her fatality her eyes gradually turn yellow, which it does I guess in the gameplay and not in her select screen/versus pic.

Based on who she is, mixed wtih Tarkatan DNA, it's fine to me.
It's perfect when she does her match victory pose.

You're not going to notice her (and anyone else) eyes anyway during actual gameplay. Not a big deal.

I dont like Mileena's new yellow eyes. I liked that they made her hair really short, a nice contrast from Kitana. I agree that Kitana and Mileena should look the same from the nose up though. Mileena was only supposed to have a tarkatan mouth and some of their ferocious battle tactics. I like how individual they are making everyone's fighting styles in this game, Mileena is like a crazy monkey or something jumping on you and eating at the oponents neck and Kitana moves kinda like a figure skater or a gymnist or something and she has a bunch of cool combos with her fans. Back to the eye thing, I always wondered why they didnt make Kitana's eyes, or even Jade's eyes, all white like Sindel's and Tanya's. Why do Sindel and Tanya have white eyes, but Kitana and Jade do not?

I love mileena eyes it so evil and devious and sexy. Her victory and entrance pose is sexy and the best. Kitana hair is sexy and her outfit it looks great so as mileena. I don't know why but I can say they both stand out. Also Mileena fatality is sexy and shocking and Kitana's is gory and detailed with a shock. I haven't seen her pose but her entrance where her fans covering her face and opens it and say "You will learn respect" that is so kitana and Mileena is LMAO entrance looks like an enchanting ballerina. Both looks good cant wait for the third ninja JADE!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I always thought that too, like the veil had a little magic and made her look more like Kitana. It wasn't just the ending picture, it was ingame too

I have kinda noticed in Mortal Kombat Deception that Mileena has normal eyes during gameplay, however, when she does her fatality where she bites off the opponent's head, her eyes turn more Tarkatan like. That might be a hint to that she is actually able to make an illusion spell, or maybe her eyes just turn to appear Tarkatan like when she becomes more ferocius in battle.

If you look at her eyes in Deception though, in renders and stuff, they're still yellow. Not full yellow demon eyes like they are now, but the irises were a pale gold instead of brown like Kitana's usually are.

I think that was just the developers being cute/clever.

I don't mind the yellow eyes. Nobody really made a big deal in MK: Gold when here eyes were solid white either, did they?

Mileena IS dead isn't she? She was resurrected by Shinnok right? She probably should have all white eyes. I mean it doesn't matter now because we're going back in time but still.

I think that has something to do with being dead at some point. I don't recall if it states if Tanya ever dies specifically, but in MK4 Tanya was thought to be a good guy and had normal eyes. Then in MKD we found out she was working for Shinnok and she had white eyes and the black brother-of-shadow-ish markings on her face. I think it's good that the developer's keep little consistencies like that without explicitly stating them.

Tanya in Deception looks kinda like she's supposed to be wearing a bandit mask. In comics, it's common for characters with domino masks like Green Lantern, Green Arrow, and Robin to be drawn with all white eyes, as if the masks have lenses.

SIndel has white eyes because she's living-dead, same reason as Scorpion.

Mileena dies in MK2 by Kitana's hand, but is ressurected by Shinnok in UMK3 from what I understand.

Also, it seems a bit random about who has white eyes and who doesn't. Some have reasons, others don't. I guess it is for visual design purposes mostly.

In MK white eyes usually mean someone is dead/resurrected or at some point lost their soul. So I guess maybe Tanya had her soul tampered with when she worked for the Deadly Alliance? I don't know.
