Hi, new user over here... well I have played on PC all my life, that means I missed most of the MK games out there, I was completely excited with the announcement of MK9 for PC. I had used the 360 controller on my computer and as everyone here knows the dpad is useless for a game like MK, so my questions are the following:

Is it true that the transforming dpad of the silver controllers breaks easily? We must have into consideration that the transforming dpad will be under constant pressure in this game.

Or instead of getting the silver controller, should I get a PS2 joystick with an adapter for PC?

Or should I buy a Mad Catz 360 controller?

Thanks

I think a good logitec gamepad will do the job, allthough it does for me.

As you stated, any Xbox 360 controller will work, so if you even want to get the PDP arcade fight stick, that will work.

I would normally recommend the HORI EX2 gamepad, but that appears to be out of stock now. Also, for pure fighting games, the PDP Versus controller is an inexpensive option. I want to say the PDP Afterglow has been used for fighting games, too, but I'm not sure about that. Perhaps someone else has experience with it; I'm planning on ordering one soon so I'll have a definite answer for you later.

Hope this helps...

I've been using Logitech gamepads for years on my PC and I'm fine with them.

One is Logitech Precision:

The other is Logitech RumblePad 2:

Both also have 4 trigger buttons (the R2 and L2 buttons don't have free lower ends like PS3 controllers, they're more like PS2 controller trigger buttons, which I actually prefer). The RumblePad 2 controller also has the vibration function (although I don't even use it, I don't care for that stuff) and the action buttons can (optionally) be set to be sensitive to how hard you press them.

I actually use the Precision one more often as it's lighter and I don't use the vibration and press-sensitivity options. I use the RumblePad 2 only if I need the analog sticks.

Anyway, Google them and find out more info. The D-pad isn't as good as the one on the PS controllers, but I'm fine with it and the Precision one is also very cheap. Can't remember the precise prices right now, me and my bro bought them 5-6 years ago. If you're not looking for some monster controllers, these should do fine. Also, they work on Windows 8 [EDIT: the controllers work, but the software for RumblePad 2 doesn't seem to work and thus I can't use the press sensitivity function. There are newer Logitech gamepads with same design though, those should come with software that is more up to date.].

I prefer the Fighting Commander 3 Pro from HORI. It has a pretty solid d-pad.

It's wired and for PS3, but the cord is super long and should work for any DirectInput game on the PC (even though there's no PC drivers). However, you'll need something like x360ce if you want to play XInput games with it, such as MKAK.
The Horipad EX2 Turbo mentioned above is decent, but it has a ghosting defect (basically, the d-pad likes to randomly move on its own). I happen to own two of these and I've already busted the d-pad on one of them.

I'm not going for a fight stick... i'm not THAT hardcore in fighting games.

I'm between the PS2 controller or the 360 Mad Catz (With the proper Dpad)... Im definitely not going for a silver x box controller... Just thinking about that thing breaking in a couple of weeks makes my pockets hurt!!

So between that 2 controllers which one should I buy?

I would like a Hori as well, but they aren't available in my country, and I saw a Rumblepad 2 and I don't think if it's what I'm looking for.
