A big thanks goes out to Crow this year for helping out our coverage while we were all at our respective jobs during the day. We appreciate it!

Based upon your screenshot, I'm pretty sure the two guys in the Pit II bg are Daegon and Reiko

It could be random. Like the prison in MKD.Based upon your screenshot, I'm pretty sure the two guys in the Pit II bg are Daegon and Reiko
Thanks for the kind words everyone.
The thing is I'm not totally sure what constitutes as a special move this game. There were several things I left out, such as Kung Lao taking off his hat and giving the opponent a swipe. Characters seem to use a lot of things like that, and really the only reason I added the tomahawk uppercut for Nightwolf as a special was because it was an actual special at one point. When I saw the air throw, I was wondering if this was perhaps something all the characters might end up having, so I sort of backed off on it. So much of the "regular" stuff in this game is so unique to the characters and very flashy, I'm just not quite used to seeing this level of individuality from Mortal Kombat.
We've already seen Kenshi in the background as well. I'm thinking the characters rotate, or there's a slim chance they changed this during development or something from one trailer to another. I highly doubt that though, and time will eventually prove the theory.

One of the interviews or twitter comments from someone who was at E3, I forget which and where, said that Ed told them the background characters like Kira, Kenshi, Daegon, etc. were just placeholders for now.
Obviously, I'd take that with a grain of salt since I can't remember the exact source or confirm the accuracy, but I'm just throwing it out there.

Well that still leaves the chains at Kahn's Arena, maybe they want to keep people guessing whether or not Sonya, Kano, and Liu will be in the game.
Plus cameos are more fun.

In a way, but it can get a little silly. I was not a big fan of the Prison stage in MKD because it defied the storyline canon. I thought about that every single time I was on that stage, it's just one of those details I can't ignore being a storyline buff.

I actually like seeing some non-MK1-3 characters, at least in some form, though I think it would be extremely cool if they had characters with genuine grudges against one another fighting it out in the background. These characters would then rotate to a different pair if you picked, say, Liu Kang.
Hotaru vs. Dairou
Daegon vs. Taven
Sareena vs. Quan Chi
Scorpion vs. Sub-Zero
Goro vs. Johnny Cage
Liu Kang vs. Shang Tsung
Raiden vs. Shinnok
Kitana vs. Mileena
Kano vs. Sonya
Frost vs. Sonya
Kabal vs. Mavado
You get the gist.

Only a matter of time before you're re-introduced to Nightwolf. No more distance game for you.

Well I agree. I meant more fun for the team. Not so much for us the fans.

Question: The game will be named simply Mortal Kombat? No subtitle this time?

Yes, Ed has confirmed it's simply going to be titled "Mortal Kombat".
It's pretty cool to see the background characters fighting animations because even when it's not part of the actual fighting it still looks smooth and fluid.
On a side note, I'm not too sure that they could actually say the the characters don't share animations because if you look closely at the fight between Scorpion vs Sub-Zero they both have the same recovery animation.
Once Scorpion and Sub-Zero are defeated, they both pound the ground and flip back up. It's obvious in works and not that big of a deal, I just thought I'd point it out.

Why, that title has already been taken by a game released in 1992.
What's the following game gonna be called?

MK isn't the first series to give their reboot no number or subtitle.
One of the Prince of Persia games and the last Star Trek movie both immediately come to mind.

Now this is MK,great video there and credits to MKO for the coverage.
Not so important but looking as nostalgia is a big word in this game,I wonder if Dan "Toasty" Forden or something like that will return....

One thing I just noticed when Sektor and Sub-zero win a round they do the same winning pose except Sub-zero shoots ice from his wrists and sektor shoots flames. Wonder if it's laziness from the team or a link between the two because they are/were in the Lin Kuei.

I just hope and pray that we don't get screwed in the end.
From all the videos and comments from the show, it seems that everything is on the up and up. But then again, first looks at MKDA, MKD, MKA and even MKvsDC were "good." And when the reveiws were final didn't they all score within the 8's and 9's range?
In a few cases those games were I guess OK, but for the most part those games fell far into the category of crap-tastic.
This MK needs to be a 10! Story, game-play, design, every aspect of it needs to be a ten all day long. It needs to be fluid, fast paced, and most importantly, balanced (the breakers make me nervous, but if used intelligently, I guess they could work).
It needs to be able to holds up under close scrutiny and be, well, just a quality game. I'm done with making excuses and choosing not to see the blatant missteps just be cause its MK.
this game is their last chance with me. if it doesn't wow and amaze me like I know MK can, this franchise will remain to be a waste of my time.
