It's been stated in a news article online that the music from the movies IS NOT the official theme. I don't have the article to show you, but I'm being quite honest when I say it was real and wasn't some random guys blog.

It's an interview with the artists and quote from one of the answers to the question: "What kind of music styles can we expect to hear in the game?"

So.... what is it?

The movie theme is not the main theme of the games.

There is no theme for the games. Each game usually uses brand new music, the only song I can think of that showed up more than once is the Courtyard theme (MK3 Street).

You still miss the point, that article is an interview with the composers of the music for Mortal Kombat vs DC and they even said "It's a first for the series".

So is that article complete BS? Were the artists on crack when having the interview? What's the deal...

To be honest I can't even remember any of the music from the game. Very unimpressive.

It's not a theme for the series/franchise, it's a theme for that game specifically. Meaning that music piece will be played at important parts of the story, or at the beginning and end or whatever.

It's like a character having their own theme - the music plays whenever we see the character.

The only SONG that haas appeared in the games in Immortal by Adema, but that was based more on Scorpion than the whole MK universe (seeing as the music video was all about Scorpion).

The movies have no official relationship with the games and the movie theme is by far not the game theme, and never will be! If the games were to have one it would probably be a heavy metal song, not some crappy techno jive from the 90's.

The song "Techno Syndrome" by The Immortals was the theme song for the games first. It appeared in 2 soundtracks (one on CD, on both cassette and CD) released by The Immortals. It also appeared in the Sega CD port of MK1.

The exact song later appeared in the movie, and the soundtrack. A remix of the song was made for Annihilation.

I think it's fair to say that Techno Syndrome is the MK theme song for both the games and the movies.
