Wow, haven't posted here in years. Oh well, I'm back with something good.
Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mortal_Kombat_9#Confirmed_characters, the information is included with reference.

This tells me he will have a major role. In his initial debut he didn't have a strong backstory, other than he was an Edenian prince. In MKA they made him a major character...I think they will play up his history now.

It really did amaze me in MKA how they made a complete Joke character into such an in depth character, one of the few characters (along with Noob Saibot and Sektor that have gone tremendous story changes in the modern eras of the games).

Anyhow, it also may be confirmation that he'snot playable...putting him in the background alah Sonya and Kano in MK2. Either way though, it means he'll have a role in the story.

You guessed it right... the scans aren't allowed. But then again, it's also to be found on other websites... so there is no stopping.

And on another note... were do you see a girl with Rain??? I think your fantasy is getting the best of you.

Well, I added it to wikipedia, so I'll just edit my post. Scott Howell hates me enough from back in the day, and Bishop would love to fry me. But, I'd like to repair the relationship so I'll take it out.
Yeah, they aren't allowed and this thread will be closed sooner or later.

And just because he is in the background doesn't mean he will have a "major" part in the story. Thet's the same exact model from Armageddon, he very well may be a place holder like the fighters in the Pit background.

I think it would be awesome if they did give him a better story, but I think he for sure needs a new look. I liked him better as a purple palette swap in UMK3. I just don't like the hair or the poncho.

The purple and gold makes him look "fancy"

hmmm...interesting! Never liked Rain, but maybe he'll become cool like Ermac or Mileena. I never liked either of them either until Deception!

I haven’t even read the article on wikipedia... but, first.. anyone can edit that page so this confirms nothing. Secondly, I did a search on the name Rain and found nothing. And Finally, Rain just appeared on those scans in the background of one stage and in the same costume as in MKA (just like Kira, Kenshi and Li Mei) so this proofs nothing. I’ll bet that Rain won’t be playable.

Yeah we've seen Kira in Kahn's stage; it doesn't necessarily mean she will be in the game. We've seen Reiko in the Pit stage; it doesn't mean he's officially playable as well.
I get that he is royalty, but purple and gold just looks stupid IMO.

Both Purple and Gold are commonly used to symbolize Royalty in the past. Purple was an expensive dye, usually saved for Royalty, while anyone with actual gold trim has to have wealth.
