Because no one has made a thread about it as far as I have seen, plus it'd be better than the same thread over and over again. Anyone have ideas for new special moves for confirmed or unconfirmed characters? any gripes are complaints? If anyone would like to show their ideas for a new one, feel free.
The only two things I really have the the MK team right now on Special Moves are this: Very little to none move borrowing (aka Kitana has 2 special moves from Jade and Mileena, not good), and an overabundance of fire moves. 60% of all characters have fire based special moves, it gets too cliche and repetitive. I'm sure they can invent more element ideas and such in stead of just giving everyone fire based moves.

Well, you really can't do much when it comes to sp. powers since most are from the five elements based on mk. You have Fire, Wind, Water, Electricty, and dark magic.
Then there was kenichi that just did the tele stuff.

I like how special moves can be "charged" or powered by the gauge... like Reptile's acid spit becomes an acid stream, or nightwolf shoots 3 arrows instead of 1, and sektor also shoots multiple missiles.
I'd love to see all charged super moves!!! i wonder what Scorp's hellfire looks like, or his spears! and Mileena's sai throw.
Speaking of which, im not a big fan of the pink light of mileena's specials. I liked it better when she had a more ninja assassin feel rather than the super powers.

I like Mileena's pink light/mist/whatever because it puts her inline with the other assassins because both Kitana and Jade also have it in their special moves.
I'd like to see more melee special moves. Everything shouldn't always be about playing keep away with a projectile or teleport or whatever.

Yeah, borrowing gets kind of lame and subtracts from originality of the character.
Kitana's Pixie Dust Teleport was painful to watch, and her roll was even more painful to watch.
I would like to see fresh new special moves. Usually my favorite special moves have some sort of energy or aura that goes with it. Like nowadays, Baraka's blade swipe or Kitana's fan swipe is nothing special anymore because they could have a blade or fan stance where those kinds of moves are prevalents.
Why I'm saying this? It's because of Kitana's "Razor Tip" special in MKDC. It was cool and all, but it would look more "special" if there was an energy following it and not just the "swipe-effect" that follows many weapon attacks. I don't remember of the weapons of MKD did this, but its very common in Soul Calibur.... ANYWAY.
I love how many characters get new moves as new games come, but I hate it when nothing about them seems very unique. What I mean is, Sindel's leg grab from MKD could have been given to any character and it still would have looked right... same goes for Scorpion's leg trip and Shang Tsung's slide launch.
So yeah. That's all. Oh yeah, and new character's with fire-based attacks need tuh goh... nao.

The only "upgraded specials" I dont like so far are reptiles superball and Sektors tele-puch and slam.
Reptiles ball seems to easy to avoid, and its too slow.
Sektors Pro-tele-cut should not leave his ONLY option to do a combo form the ground. This should just launch them up further to open the frames leaving the Sektor player witht he option to attack from the ground or jump and go from the air.

My only thing with special moves is that I wanted all the characters to have their classic moves returned to them. Don't get me wrong.. new moves are great and all.. but not when they replace a classic move that was part of making that character who they were (Especially when the "new" move is a borrowed move from someone not making an appearance in that game). I've said it before and I'll say it again: In fighting games a characters signature moves are as much a part of making that character who they are as costume design or story. Can anyone here imagine Scorpion without his spear move? It would be absolutely out of the question. It should be the same for all characters. It pissed me off to no end how badly some characters were raped as far as their signature special moves go in MKDA-MKD. A few for DA that come to mind are: Cyrax (this guy should never have lost his net move... and for what? A Stupid looking buzz-saw? Really?) Sonya was another. Lost her leg grab and her rings only to gain Liu Kang's flying kick? I'd love to know who's brilliant Idea that was. Kitana's fan toss? Her best and most well known move.. and you were only able to do it once per round. It was very sad.
That being said... if Reptile is any indication.. they're returning all of the the fighters classic special moves (about time).
So I'm really hoping to see Cyrax's Energy net again (as far as I'm concerned this should be non-negotiable. Make Cyrax fun again Boon!). As well as Sindel being able to float and use her hair as a weapon again. With the power bar able to upgrade moves.. it'll be interesting to see what super versions of some classic moves are.

Does anyone know of a list of confirmed specials/ex-specials for all characters known so far? Like will Scorpion and Jax (assuming he's in) finally get their airthrows back. And Jax NEEDS his damn multi-slam back as well. He was nearly perfect in MKvsDC but he needs his backbreaker and multislam throw back (preferably a little easier to do and memorize then in MK4 when he last had it and it required a TON of buttons like King's linkers in Tekken... very very hard to memorize and only slightly easier to pull off on the fly.. kinda hurt Jax's power level alot).
Also any word from boon on the status of Scorpion's so far missing Toasty fatality? He better have it in some form. I'd like to see him torture the opponent abit before doing it so I'm holding out hope that Fatality 2 that I don't think has been seen in full yet is him making the opp. defenseless before mercilessly burning them alive with his fire breath. Ah.. to dream.

I like how they added that ice spike on sub zeros ground freeze for the beginning of the x-ray move. It's too bad that isn't part of the regular move, the ice slipping move was always kind of silly, at least now he freezes their feet into place but I do think having the spike come up from the bottom all of the time would be cool and a good way to start an air juggle.

What I really want is that they use as few perfectly horizontal projectiles with no reward and use different trajectories such as:
Sektor's homing missile is a great example. His upward one is useless.
Sindel's fireball could only work in the air. Honestly, her projectile has always been useless, especially in UMK3, I mean come on. It was so unsafe and offered nothing in return, at least the air one was an good zoning tool. Plus this would go great with my idea of Sindel playing best when airborne.
Jade's returning boomerang was a great tool. It should have the option to return after a low and high one as well. Imaging the cool combos you could do like "launch > initial boomerang hit > blazing nitro kick > second boomerang hit > upper cut". That would be the bread-and-butter version of course.
Rain's lightning strike comes from above and launches. It should stun them while they're in the air instead.
Cages upward force ball has a parabolic trajectory, perfect for anti air.
Shang Tsung's raising fireballs provides good continuity to combos... or at least it should.
Cryax's exploding bombs... timed projectil

I never liked the shapeshifting thing with Shang Tsung really much... I mean why should shang tsung being able to morph into every character without having to steal their souls first?
Well maybe they can do it like this: Shang Tsung has this soulsteal ability right?
Now what about he has to do this soulsteal ability a couple of times (shang tsung has its own healtbar-like bar of soul energy he steals from his victim) before being able to transform into the character he fights.
So if Shang fights against Sonya Blade he has to hit her with soulsteal for like 2 or 3 times and then when his soulbar is full he can freely transform into her whenever he likes, he can also transform into her with a move, so he starts out with the energy rings move while transforming into her, making a surprise attack.
This makes more sense than just being able to transform into every single character...

well it would be awesome if every character had every special from every game excluding for borrowing ones.
and Shang Tsung should have the fire cobra he did in deception intro as the super of his fire balls.
