What if they introduced Tremor as a Samurai??

I've been getting good feedback from quite a few forums about a samurai in MK.
Tremor is not loved by NRS. But he is loved by a few in the MK kommunity. Is he original enough to be in next MK or should they transform Tremor into a samurai? A samurai came runner-up in deadliest warrior season 1. There we're ninjas but they went out first round.

MK's long overdue a decked out samurai character, but there's absolutely nothing to be gained by radically altering an unrelated character to do that. Tremor's a burly Lin Kuei bloke who joined the Black Dragon. There's plenty to work with there, you don't need to suddenly turn him into the resident samurai.
Dairou is an obvious character who could benefit from some more overt samurai inspired alterations. Kenshi would certainly do well to dress that corner of the MK world. Otherwise, lets aim for better. Lets get a brand new samurai character.

Would you be happy if the samurai was a woman?

I sure would be. And maybe she could be black or middle eastern, or look that way in case she wasn't human.
Tremor shouldn't be turned into a samurai. Even though we've already got a lot of ninjas, I admit I like him for being beefier than the others. That already sets him apart from the others a little. Still, his powers make him pretty much NinJax (Jax in a ninja outfit), and I prefer the Earth Elemental from MKM: Sub-Zero, personally. So if he returns, they have to find a way to make him different from Jax gameplay-wise.
Being a ripped ninja could help make his gameplay more distinguished. He could even keep the outfit if there was some justification for it, like being Lin Kuei or a surviving member of the Shirai-Ryu.

No. Yes, a samurai is needed in Mk. Not because of Deadliest Warrior. Deadliest Warrior is nowhere NEAR enough to consider a character to be in a video game. We also don't need a female samurai, and Red Sonja does not need to fill that void. We're fine without her.
Please, threads like this should be placed in the "Future MK Games" category of the forum, not the MK2011.
And finally onto the original question, Tremor as a samurai would not work. As I've stated previous times before, changing a character is not supposed to happen. You don't ignore your own story. Tremor is a Lin Kuei who went rogue and joined the Black Dragon, whilst remaining in his Lin Kuei "ninja" garb. Changing Tremor would just be awful.

Could you explain why you think there shouldn't be a female samurai? I'd love to hear your exact words.

I see what you're tryin'! No, it's not anything sexist or completely stupid, but based more on accounts of actual Japanese Samurai back when gender-segregation was major. They were not known to allow many women into their ranks.
However, if it were a female DISGUISED as a man to gain acceptance, there's great story potential in that.
I guess a femal samurai would work.
Just not Red Sonja.

The gender thing is not a problem if the female samurai is either not from Earth (could be Seidan or Edenian instead) or is from the present. The same way Scorpion is a modern-day ninja.
And I never said anything about Red Sonja.

Shao Kahn, Kenshi, Dairou, and Hotaru are all variations on the look and fighting styles of Samurai already.
Tremor already has a backstory that defines him as a Lin Kuei who went rogue and joined the Black Dragons. His "Black Dragon Gang Earth Criminal"-ness is even referenced in his MK9 Vita appearance. Heavy Lamellar armor and a katana wouldn't exactly fit on a 21st century street gangster.

Anybody know if Tremor is related to any clans?

An optimist would say "Surely three different users don't have to repeat the same thing, I'm sure once is enough to properly inform the topic creator."
Experience has taught me to not be an optimist.

Samurai's are awesome. Kenshi is the closest to a samurai there is. Dairou is more of an assassin according to his story. Hotaru is also somewhat of a samurai type character.
If MK ever does an overhaul and introduces a bunch of new characters I would like to see another Samurai character. For now Kenshi will work for me though. Such an awesome character. Been my favourite since he appeared in MKDA

He's supposed to be something of a Ronin. It was more obvious in his unused Deadly Alliance concept, when his weapon stance was dual-wielding katanas or wakizashis and his story involved being hired by Shang to guard his palace and thus becoming Kenshi's archnemesis.

When I think of Samurai I think of graceful swordplay, not a guy that causes earth quakes.
I'd like a samurai though.

True, but his final MKD costume design differs somewhat from the concept in MKDA's Krypt, which had a more Japanese style of armor on. Not to mention multiple variations on his hairstyle. I think some of them even had a helmet instead.
If you mean the Deadly Alliance version, I give you full pass on that one.
Plus, Hotaru. Samurai armour also emulated insects, and he is basically AN insect.
I would not mind making Hotaru female though with the unintentional play on his name, AND that he has a naginata. A traditionally female weapon.

Tremor as a samurai??? Nah...It would probably be better if NRS simply created a new character with a samurai-influenced design. Maybe they could make use of that Hachiman concept if that counts.
You know, that would have been more interesting. MK could use more female characters anyway. I wish Dairou kept his original design and backstory though the MK team could have melded the elements together by making him an ex-Seidan Guard who travels to Outworld to do mercernary work and is hired by Shang Tsung to guard his palace. That way, you could still have the Seidan background and establish the rivalry with Kenshi.

I'd support a female Hotaru.
Primarily because then he wouldn't look like Fujin in different clothes. Seriously, nobody noticed they already had a cleanshaven guy with a white ponytail and glowing eyes?

There is a samurai fighting lui kang in the first film at end where shang tsung summons fighters. Samurai is long overdue in mk.

Holy shit! that's what I exactly thought when I first saw Hotaru.
anyway,
They just need to bring back my man Takeshi Tsunami from Mace: The Dark Age & that would solve the lacking of traditional samurai issue. Or simply give Kenshi samurai like garments instead of giving them to Dark Raiden.
