Maybe it's (this based off my hypothesis) it'st he process of Tarkatan's able to bend the hemoglobin (heme-iron globin-protein) in their blood and make it so they can get them Arm blades.

Or instead of being technical, maybe it's a maturity thing. Kind of like in Mass Effect when Krogan's do the "Rite of Passage".

Like, every tarkatan scratches him in the body, and the "boss" tarkatans pierce through his...lungs, organs etc.

maybe something like that, heck he could have just challenged a bunch of leaders to a death match for leadership

It's like one of those contradictions(or paradox? idk) since I am aware Hemo/hemato=Blood but Hemoglobin but the Hemo actually means "Heme"=iron :P *sorry for the offtopic guys*

As for ontopic: Thanks for the ackownledgement of either theory, though based off it being Baraka "surviving" I guessi t would be more of my 2nd suggestion....but who's to say only "worthy" Tarkatans can wield/grown arm blades? :) lol

Hmmm dunno what it is. But it would make sense if it involved his blades (seeing as how not every tarkatan can extend and retract them) but as somone mentioned befor he "survived" the ritual of blood.

If we ever did get an expansion of story chapters for the baddies I would really like a flashback cinmeatic explaining what happend. Baraka sounds super bad ass according to bios and stuff, I wish you would have fought nameless tarkatan soldiers like in challenge tower, so when you fight baraka he seems like more of a threat.

Same with all the baddies really (with the exception of reptile seeing as hes the last of his race)

I personally think this "Ritual of Blood" is just a vicious test/challenge to determinate if the Tarkatan is strong enough to be worthy of a high position.

Which of course Baraka proved that he is, that bald fangy blood thirsty bastard.
