Who's the only one? I thought it was a common understanding that the original pallet swapped characters were the ninjas. Scorpion, sub zero, reptile, Kitana, Mileena, jade, then Rain and Ermac. Oh yeah and smoke. I know the evolution of their stories might contradict this nowadays, but how I see it, is the original masked pallet swap characters from MK1-trilogy are the ninjas. I try not to get too in depth and difficult.

Everyone still calls them the "ninjas" of Mortal Kombat, but only one, who is Scorpion, is the only character that is actually a ninja. So in defense, we only have ONE ninja, not the plenty that you've listed.

It's not difficult to see that every one of the original palette characters have become something different today.

I might be willing to omit Rain and Ermac. But all the palette swap characters from the first two games, playable and hidden, are still the "ninjas" of the series. Maybe not technically, but still.

The Lin Kuei technically invented ninjas and Japan stole the idea. If there was a Chinese word for "ninja", we could use that for them, but there's not, so it's pretty much just as valid to call Sub-Zero, Smoke, Noob, Sektor, and Cyrax ninjas as it is for Scorpion.

But that's why we have, oh.. every other character. Cage, Sonya & Goro for example. We have plenty of palette swap "ninjas" and i don't think it would be a good idea to change them now, but including more at this point would be overkill.



I was using them as examples of types of people in the world. There's a wide variety of people and, yes, some are TVs/TSs. Saying no to inclusion based on your petty prejudice is as bad as being racist. Who cares about Kira? The makers of MK for starters. I'm using her previous transvestism as a perfect example of a time when it was relevant as a character point.

To be fair, Body Dysmorphia, as in having a gender identity that doesn't match the body you were born with ("a man trapped in a woman's body" or vise versa), the leading motive for transexualism, is a genuine mental disorder.

A pretty serious one, too. There's statistical evidence to suggest that a large portion of the people, maybe even the majority, who get sex change operations either regret it so much or are still so unhappy with the results because they still don't feel like the genuine article, that they commit suicide.
Not to mention that plastic surgery costs tens of thousands of dollars, and I bet even if you just take hormones, that ain't cheap either...that's the kind of money a person's life could be ruined trying to acquire, like you're spending all your paychecks on that instead of a house or a car or going to college or bills and food...I'm sure that doesn't help in their seemingly hopeless pursuit of self-esteem and happiness.
