It's Scorpion that everyone likes.

I asked this because lately I have seen a whole bunch of posts here and on other sites all saying how Sub-Zero is the greatest character. I was more asking those people why they like him so much. I don't see how he's a great character and just want to know what his fans admire about him.

Although Sub-Zero is not my overall favorite, I do like him. From a gameplay perspective, I've always enjoyed using him. His Fatalities are usually good, too. I appreciate that they try different things with him even though ninja fanboys bitch and complain about it. They unmasked him in MK3, which was blasphemous at the time. They aged him in MK:DA, then gave his Shredder-like outfit in Deception. And what I most appreciated about Sub-Zero is his story. He's one of MK's best developed characters who's grown naturally over the course of the series. Things are always happening with him and we've watched him progressively grow from a neutral mercenary to a rogue antihero to finally a heroic leader.

Well, I don't think "everyone" likes Sub just like "everyone" doesn't like Scorpion.

Yes, they're both still popular and most likely always will be but there's also plenty of fans out there that despise both.

They're alright in my book, not my fav, not my least favs.

But for the reasons as to people might like him

-His ice powers. Now if you think about it ice and fire are considered the "Coolest" powers in video games hence why Scorpion is also well loved.


-Some of the nostalgic fans may respect him due to the fact he has been in mortal kombat since the very start.


-Also he and Scorpion are considered mascots to the game which makes people think he must be the toughest or something along the lines of that.


There are many other reasons like him being leader of a clan etc.

Well...to tell you the truth..I started playing when I was probably 6-8 years old. I just liked him because he was Blue, and its just carried on.

3. looks cool
4. his powers rock

He pretty much is the the face of MK besides Scorpion

For the same reasons you like Scorpion and Reptile and I like Ermac. He's well-developed, with unique powers,an in-depth story, with such a following he even has a clone.(Frost)

I fell in love with Sub-Zero the first time I played MK.
He's not my #1 fav, but he is one my most favorites.

Well I guess I just found it plain cowardly to attack someone when they have no way to defend. The freeze thing just never caught on with me I guess. Well he may be my most hated char but at least he has a good enough story. There is no way he and Scorpion are the face of MK though. Not for me at least.

Well, it was Baraka who got me interested in Mortal Kombat, but it was Quan Chi who got me hooked.

Quan Chi has this aura of darkness and power that no other villian has. He doesn't need a bio or an introduction of any kind, because the aura precedes him. He has, and will always, make the perfect boss.

Now Baraka, he's the ultimate beast. So violent and rutheless. What I hate, though, is that he is subserviant to the ruler of Outworld. He has had every advantage to become the new ruler but for some unknown reason, refuses to advance. I know Baraka would make an excellent king.

Sub-Zero just plain now, but like when i was 6 or 7. I discovered Sub Zero was the one in Mk:2 that could freeze the ground. Hell at the time Sub was cool to me after that. Then the head rip fatality he had in Mk:2 too.

Sub had the the head rip in MK1 and UMK3, not MK2


MK2 he had the freeze and shatter fatality, and the Ice Grenade.

#1: He is the counter-part of scorpion.
#2:He has awesome powers.
#3:He is in all mk's and has a movie about him.
#4:He can dominate in any match (not saying im bias towards him but he is pretty cool).
and #5:He and scorpion have amazing battles!

He didnt have a movie about him, it was a video game, MK Mythologies:Sub-Zero. However, it did have live action cutscenes with real people. That may be what threw you off.

But although many people like Sub-Zero Many people also like scorpion. Even more I might add. Scorpion is more popular because he is the original MK Ninja. Because Sub-Zero,Rain,Noob,Emac,Reptile,and ninja smoke are all copies of Scorpion. Besides Scorpion Is Juust cool. He just has a certain....Thing i should say. He is mysterious, cool, and doesnt take orders from anyone.Yes Scorpion is the most popular character Sub-Zero is up in second place.

OK. In the title I didn't mean that everyone literally likes Sub-Zero. Just to get this straight, I know many people like Scorpion and others more than him. I just wanted to clear that up. So please I would perfer it if we could leave the "what are you talking about, everyone likes Scorpion" type comments out of this. Thanks.

You are right Invadera-26 I was doing some research and its is a game with real-life cut scenes. None the less it is about Sub-Zero.
